English doesn't have to be our "official" language
English is our national language and will never lose its standing. It is unnecessary to pass laws to make it official. Those laws will probably cause more problems than anyone could imagine. All other languages that immigrants bring here disappear within three generations. English will remain the dominant language.

(3 comments) Immigrants are losing their native languages at the same rate as they always have, by the third generation. It is not necessary to try to make English the official language of this country. People who want to do that are worrying about nothing.

Assimilation and English
When immigrants know English, they can assimilate much faster into American life. They must be convinced that it is important and then given the opportunity to learn English. A common language is what unites all the diverse groups in this country, everyone should know the language. A fair path to citizenship for the people here illegally will help too.

Immigration Reform: Some signs it is getting closer
(1 comments) There are some hints that our citizens are getting tired of the illegal immigrant debate and are ready to allow these workers to stay and become legal residents and citizens if they qualify. Hopefully Congress will face facts and come to the same conclusion.
