I am a Canadian and not an American. But, if I were an American, this is what I would say to the Bush Administration on this September 11.
A general strike on September 11 or a memorial holiday -- a withholding of all non-essential services -- is the way to show President Bush and his cabinet that we will not walk a step further down the path he treads.
Through it, we say to the government, the military, the business community, and the media that we have withdrawn our consent to be governed by the criminal cabal that has hijacked our government.
They are the only real terrorists, not the 19 shadowy figures with boxcutters, most of whom are alive today and were employed by the cabal. The cabal is the only real threat to national security. They are the ones who have stripped us of our rights and would invoke martial law to put us in chains.
It is they who perpetrated the atrocities of 9/11 on an unsuspecting nation.
It is they who declared war on Afghanistan and Iraq to secure their oil supplies.
It is they who now want to grab Iran's oil.
It is they who do not support our troops, but send them to their deaths on shameful missions.
It is they who require our troops to use depleted-uranium (DU) weapons of mass destruction on civilian populations, turning the Middle East into a radioactive wasteland.
It is they who turn their backs on these same soldiers when they come home irradiated from the war, disabled and dying. Who will fight their wars again?
We the People, in the face of these unjust and murderous acts, nonviolently refuse to cooperate with this government. We ask that all its cabinet officers tender their resignation and step aside while the People choose a new, interim government. We will not wait for impeachment.
We want your resignations now.
We have joined in a Rainbow Revolution, a full-spectrum coalition of the People, to force out the usurpers of democracy.
We apologize to all those whom this regime has harmed. That includes Muslims within the United States who were racially-profiled and stigmatized for no reason.
That includes the people of the Balkans, Afghanistan, and Iraq whose territory we have turned unto a radioactive wasteland with depleted uranium, whose babies we have mutilated, and whose future we have put at risk.
That includes the peace-loving nations of the world whom we have intimidated.
We have not found our voice until now. But now that we have found it, we will put this country back on its feet. There will be no need to hate the United States or fear it in the future.
We are aware that this nation was born in blood to protect itself against foreign tyranny. Now the time has come for all of us, its citizens and its friends, to stand together against tyranny again, this time internal. Again we may need to shed our blood, this time in passive resistance.
We remind the military of its vow to defend the Constitution of the United States against all tyrants and usurpers, foreign and domestic. We ask you not to harm us.
We ask you not to kill millions of innocent Iranians, not to use illegal depleted-uranium weapons that will turn their country into a radioactive wasteland.
We ask you instead to return home to the United States and remove by legitimate force the terrorists who have taken hold of your government.
We remind you of what Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace said: "It is the absolute responsibility of everybody in uniform to disobey an order that is either illegal or immoral." (1)
Well, then I'm less surprised. Kipling - bless him - had great things to say about Canada and Canadians in his auto-biog fragment 'Something of myself'.
Apart from being a great writer to whom most modern authors of decent repute owe their style he was also an honest and very perceptive man, which is why his own publishers have their brethren decry him in his own books! - If you want to quote his comment, which partially explains today's debacle, go ahead. If you don't know it, ask me.
Meanwhile, all power to your shining cause. Because something has to be done to stop the evil bastards. They and those motivating them are cynically endangering all life on the planet, and they don't even care.
My small recommendation is that the military come back and pulverize Washington and NY, wipe out the media and all who distort it in the cause of our elimination, and demote to street-sweepers all the law-enforcement agencies who have proven themselves unworthy of protecting the people in their charge. Oh, and boot all the Israeli manipulatoirs first bounce to the middle of the ocean, of course. - Did I miss anyone?
Then let's get back to decent daily living.

You sound like most of our people in this country, including our little democrats in Congress should. But unfortunately that is not the case. Yes it feels really good to be able to express our sentiments and anxieties in platforms like these blogs; however, The United States of America has turned into a corporate whore. Sad but true. Unless you own multi-billion dollar media corporations, Military Defense Contractors, etc… our voices are cheap. And they (the people who have hijacked this nation) don’t even bother with us. They control the flow of information from every angle. Our measly bloggs do nothing to affect their nefarious, diabolic causes.
Yes it feels good. Go ahead and summon the American Armed Forces to stand up for Honor, Valor and true Patriotism against the domestic terrorists in D.C., do it. I am tired of wasting my health to no avail. And what’s worse now, with the democrats aiding and abetting the terrorists in D.C.; further yet, an “election” campaign in full swing already ratcheting the bull crap and the main stream media picking who they want to pump – Corporatation$$$.
Short of another Civil War to re-shuffle the powers to be, and obliterate e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g Bush has done, we are doomed.
I am looking forward to retirement and go live in a country where true Peace, Democracy and Respect may exits. (Perhaps Utopia City).

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the situation is as bleak as you suggest.
From many vantage points, it looks like a losing struggle and I'm sure you've been slamming away at the coal face with your pick a lot longer than I have.
But the notion of millions of people dying in Iran, not just from the initial "shock and awe" assault, but from the lethal depleted-uranium (DU) radiation contamination haunts me every night before I go to bed and every morning when I wake up. The thought that that amount of contamination could tip the whole world into destruction won't let go of me.
I could not be silent if I tried.
I had retired and was about to go off to my cave in the Himalayas, so to speak, when I decided to have one last look at my favourite topdown website (globalresearch.ca) and found there the news that ultimately led me to DU.
Now there can be no retirement for me.
Still I understand how weary a person can get from looking at what seems like an intractable situation My heart goes with you to "utopia city."
