They have to go. Invertebrates are lifeforms without spines-- exemplified by most of the Democratic members of the US senate. The republicans are vertebrates, with spines, sort of like snakes-- cold blooded, carnivorous reptiles.
The best shot to send a message, afiring shot over the bow to Democratic invertebrates is to dump the worst of the invertebrate incumbents-- Joe Lieberman.
Ned Lamont is the real deal, running against him and he has a good chance. The problem is the democratic "machine--" the old timers who stand at the polls all day telling the people who don't pay much attention all year who to vote for. While the word is that PA is THE election in November. Connecticut is THE election to watch this year for Democrats. This summer, if you have any hope of seeing Democrats DO anything, then help Lamont beat Joe Lieberman, probably the worst, most Republican-like Democrat in the US senate.
Go to Connecticut and canvas. Volunteer to do phone banking from you home. Send money. Blog about it.
A defeat for Joe Lieberman will go a long way. it will help other more progressive candidates with visibility. It will force incumbent invertebrates to move left, to take stands, to stand up to their reptilian counterparts. Dumping Joe Lieberman will send a message to the DNC that they should tell the DLC right wingers who should be registered republicans to shut the hell up. Well, at the least, it will tell the DNC that the DLC is dried up and bad news, a waster of resources and no good for the Democratic party.
Let's talk about the DLC. When I use the acronym, it is a dirty word, just like, for Rush Limbaugh dittoheads, liberal is a dirty word. A DLC democrat is an invertebrate, turncoat, rightwing, cowardly, consorting with the enemy saboteur who does nothing but enable the Republicans. People who put up with them are either deluded or colluding.
We need to show them the door or convert them. Maybe we should help them start a new centrist third party. It would probably pick up an awful lot of disgusted republicans who can't stand Bush, but who, having been born and raised Republican, can't imagine voting Democrat. That's a risky thing to do, but it helped Clinton when Perot took the same path.
Bottom line, dump the bastards. Start with Lieberman and, in CA Jane Harman, who has sided with the reptilians too many times. Get the ball rolling.

A few declarations.
-While I'm registered as a Democrat, I consider myself to be a dynamic critic of the Democratic party, just as, well, not quite as much, but almost as much as I am a critic of republicans.
-My articles express my personal opinion, not the opinion of this website.
I can think of many names to call the DLCers, but the one which comes most readily to mind is "Vichy Democrats." Like their counterparts in 1940 France who collaborated with the Nazis in order to maintain their "perks," these modern day traitors have sold us all down the proverbial river. They are, indeed, spineless. When they should be showing the fight of a Harry Truman or an FDR, we get instead the whining drivel of a Joe Lieberman. Enough! Either we take back the party of FDR, Truman, Kennedy, or we begin anew. We don't have much time left. On with the revolution!

OpEdNews is a wonderful source of information and opinion in a world gone mad with dis-information, mis-information and calculated lies, all endlessly repeated by our mainstream media.
I have referred hundreds of people to OpEdNews for a breath of fresh air.
I share your outrage with our government and I truly fear for our democracy. But what good do you think it does to paint so many of the ONLY opposition party with such broad and negative strokes?
Leiberman is a coward and a traitor to his country and constituency. But to advocate a third party is plain irresponsible, especially for a person in your position.
Without Ralph Nader, Gore wins in 2000. Iraq never happens. We increase our responsibility toward the global environment. Maybe the deficit is still under control and the economy doesn’t tank. Maybe we are paying attention pre-911 and prevent it.
All for 60,000 Florida votes that went to Nader instead of Gore. Do you think those folks would vote the same, knowing what they know today?
Can this democracy stand against SIX more years of the authoritarian rule of this version of the GOP?
Please carry on your good work. Please endeavor to be constructive.
peace, happiness & vigilance.

It has been said that without vision the people perish.
We all know that Politicians without spines must be replaced.
We the People are the government and it is time to take congress back to the ideal that our founding fathers had for Congress is to represent We the People.
Rise up and run yourself if you are not satisfied with your candidates.
I am no politician but am so frustrated with the lack of vision in both parties, i am running as an Independent in District 5 Florida.
I will be filing reports of my experiences on opednews.com. with the hope that We the People will rise up and reclaim America.

We've gone with a two party system for most of our existence in the U.S., but third parties have come into play, occasionally replacing an existing one.
There is this from Joe Trippe about the current parties facing obsolescence.
