Trusting in Blind Stupidity

by Rob Kall     Page 1 of 1 page(s)

Tell A Friend

That's the Rove/Republican game plan. They trust that the remaining members of their base will automatically, stupidly, continue to produce the knee jerk reactions to phrases like hold the course, cut and run, and suggestions that to fail to go the distance with the war is an act of cowardice.

And there are millions of "stupid white men" as Michael Moore so aptly described them in his book, who will embrace these right wing echo chamber spins. These are the men who use talk of war and talk of superiority over anti war democrats as a kind of Viagra that makes them feel more manly, tougher.

I call them the dumbest, dupes in the world. Since this is a kind of sexual thing, with the war talk as Viagra, that sort of makes them cuckolds-- men who are made fools of by other men.

The fact is, the Republicans are trying to justify staying in a war that shold never nave been started. They're trying to legitimize keeping on engaging in what amounts to a horrible crime. Bush lied to get us into this war. He knowingly used false information. His fraudulent claims were used to justify starting a war. It's hard to think of a worse crime. He and his cronies deserve to go to jail. And what do you call some one who aids and abets criminals? I call them accomplices. That's what the Republicans in congress are. They are attempting to keep the like going. This is a war that should be stopped dead in its tracks.

The Iraqi people want us out. Oh sure, the "elected" officials give lip service to keeping our troops there. But there are people who the US has a major role in getting elected. In Iraq, the US controls the media. They pay for articles. They shut down media they don't like. Reporters are being killed there all the time. Here in the US, the mainstream media destroy candidates they don't like, like Howard Dean. They bolster up candidates that have higher entertainment value, like Hillary Clinton. So imagine how artificial, how truly undemocratic the Iraqi elections have really been.

When some Republican legislator tries to perpetuate the lie of a just war and talks about staying the course, I think, "What course, the one that was started upon with lies about WMDs? The one that was started with lies about the threat of nuclear cluds? The one that was started with lies about Saddams involvement in 9/11, when Iraq was not even on the government's list of nations that harbored Al Quaeda?

How stupid do these right wing extremists think the American people are? But then again, we don't see the news media critiquing these lying accomplices. Every single news anchor should be laughing at these snivelling liars as they spew their faux testosterone laden bluster about courage and bravery. There is no courage in staying on a course that waas decided upon based on lies and deception. That is stupidity, bad leadership, denial, arrogance, ignorance and heartlessly tragic, since it is causing so many deaths, so many maimings of soldiers and innocent civilians.

But it's politics. It's the strategy, along with empty legislation against same sex marriage, flag burning and the like, that the Republican leadership has decided will keep their base in line. It is at best cynical, at worst murder. Karl Rove, who plays a major role in setting the dark, despicable right wing vision, should be hanged, but only after being handed over to the Taliban. He's a war criminal and deserves to be judged and sentenced by his victims.

George Whorehouse Bush

There is a madman at the helm of a democracy. The so called government checks and balances are little more than figures of speech. Thank you gutless congress and spineless senate. Thank you very much!

Congressional invertebrates

That's what I call them-- invertebrates-- creatures without spines. We have to dump them. We have to support, financially and every way we can, the opponents that run against these incumbent red democrats. We have to kick these red asses out of congress and send a message to the rest of the invertebrate red asses that they will be next if they don't find their spines and start acting like Democrats, confronting the slimeballs who lead the republican party.

"Women Are The Real Left"*

One could conclude this war is about what every war ever has always been about: women. Male envy and fear of women, and their resulting hatred of them, is what drives stupid men, of whatever stripe. Right-wing extremists (read patriarchs) the world over know exactly how stupid men are. They play male fear like a Stradivarius. And, they know even the most progressive/liberal of men are unwilling to renounce their patriarchal privilege. In the '60s, they fought for the humanity of black men but when women voiced they'd kinda like to get in on this equal rights stuff, male cowardice was exposed. Those women who had the temerity to stand up and insist they wanted to be more than the coffee makers and paper fetchers in the movement were booed off the stage. SDS veteran Marilyn Webb stood before an anti-war rally on Jaunary 19, 1969. She said, "We as women are oppressed. We, as supposedly the most privileged in this society, are mutilated as human beings so that we will learn to function within a capitalist system...as objects and property" She brought the house down, just not in a good way. The testerical response in that "revolutionary" audience: "TAKE HER OFF THE STAGE AND f*ck HER!" "TAKE HER DOWN A DARK ALLEY!" "TAKE IT OFF!" Over the boos and jeers, Shulamith Firestone attacked, "Let's start talking about where you live, baby, and wonder whether capitalism and all those other isms don't just begin at home...Because we women often have to wonder if you mean what you say about revolution or whether you just want more power for yourselves." Rather than bring these "revolutionaries" under control, the women were removed from the stage for fear of a riot starting. Hey, it's always safer to kick the b*tch rather than the master, no? True story. *Robin Morgan, February 9, 1970

An alternate alternative for you would be to see a shrink. (Psychologist) i.e. A specialist in the study of the structure and function of the brain and related behaviors or mental processes. A psychologist may provide psychological evaluation, assessment, testing, and treatment, but may not prescribe medications.

blind trust

The Democrats need to learn 2 talking points and never fail to use them: 1. MISINFORMATION, they voted for the war on misinformation. 2. It's a mark of maturity and wisdom to realize a mistake and change course. That said, Murtha did an excellent job on Timmy.

Blind Stupiity

I often listen to podcasts of progressive radio programs and today I was listening to an "Inside Scoop" program that was aired several weeks ago (I get behind). Mark Levine was interviewing a conservative Republican businessman, Mark somebody, who generally seemed reasonably intelligent and articulate. However, when the topic of stolen elections came up he could not say anything more original or intelligent than "get over it". In other words, the topic is not one we can discuss. We just have to trust in the blind stupidity of this assault on our system of government. God! After six years, you would think that the financially well endowed Republican think tanks could come up with something new so that the troups would not have to continue to turn our stomachs with the tired old saw: get over it. Mark Levine is generally quick witted and can be expected to have a good answer, especially to stupid comments like this, but in this case he seemed as tongue-tied as most Democrats in Congress have been for the last six years.

What a lively conversation

although I am a little confused. Let's start with the first thing which caught my attention: Antonio Stradivari never played his violins; he made them. I guess 'Mar' meant Niccolo Paganini? That one could really play, even on one string.... He also could love, really love like no one else. I like the Rob Kall's article; it rightfully shows that he sees the real methodology of the current GOP elite- to play on the worst possible instincts of the crowd. That methodology tells us who they are- fascists, scum. But fascism is not about women, I would argue. And men are not exceptional in being evil and oppressive. in fact, I would argue that when it comes to evil, women when they truly serve it are much more dangerous than men. The true perfection of women is that they are much more difficult to coerce to do evil than men. But when it comes to the extremes, women are worse than men, sorry. I would respectully caution the above correspondents from directing their rage towards men in general. Say, Bushites have Bush, Rummy, Condi and Hughes. All of them are very harmful to humanity. And we have Michael Berg and Cindy Sheehn. Both are very useful to humanity. Go figure. Wars are not about women although women and children suffer the most. In the 21st Century wars are about malice. Ernest Hemingway said once,'There are some people in this world which are to be destroyed.' He was talking about malice. Not profit, not even greed- malice, a cancer of the heart. And such cancer does not discriminate by age, gender or race. It takes toll on everyone. All of us fight it and it is a tough fight. So, kindness, tenderness, compassion and firmness in showing the examples of good, those most perfect feminine qualitiies are in short supply now while never they were needed so much. I urge everyone to remember that. Thanks Mark Sashine

Reply: This is extremely interesting

what am I confused with? With Paganini, Stradivari or women left? I consider a theory of equality: actual belonging to a certain gender, race or origin means only one thing; actual belonging to it, a random fact. It does not make us entitled to a certain destiny, neither it does make us unique compared to all the others. Personalities are unique, not genders.I also still think that women as well as all the other adults are neither 'left' nor 'right'- they are a little of both. And the specific traits of belonging to someone reveal themselves under.. extremes. Such extremesd could be a woman desperately trying to be a man or 'playing in the man's world' as she sees it or a man (please!) desperately trying to blend between women. Extremes come together in desperation. But returning to it: malice is universal. So is love. If we throw stones at each other, the children will have no parents. And then the dragon will eat them (literally). I really like this conversation:) Mark Sashine

Reply: Questions

Personally, I'm a tad sick and tired of this conversation after 30+ years of having it with one blissfully ignorant person after another. But, OK, here goes. First the Earth cooled and then there were dinosaurs...oh, forget it. I think I'll just ask you some questions instead. 1. I wrote "Stradivarius" not "Stradivari." Why do you think 'Mar' did that? 2. Would you put forth your argument on how facsism, one of the more malignant manifestations of patriarchy, is not primarily concerned with the control of women? 3. Do you even know what patriarchy is? 4. Can you give quantitative/qualititave stats illustrating how women are more evil, oppressive, dangerous, extreme and malicious than men? 5. You caution "..the above correspondents" (little confused as I'm the only one here so far generally outraged at thousands of years of vile, male behavior. The other correspondent thinks I need to shrink my mind but most men, and some women, think all women should not be worrying their pretty little heads) from directing rage towards men in general. Or what? 6. Why do you think women are more truly and perfectly difficult to coerce into doing evil than men? 7. Can you show how centuries of women's love, kindness, tenderness and compassion have made men any less misogynist? 8. Having read your article published on this site, do you know the difference between plunder and rape, and how offensive it is to use the word "rape" to describe anything other than the sexual violation of one person by another? 9. Gender is not unique to one sex or the other?! (Weepin' jaysus on the cross.) 10. Does your ability to hold contradictary beliefs in your mind cause you to suffer cognitive dissonance a little, a lot or not at all? 11. "And the specific traits of belonging to someone reveal themselves under.. extremes. Such extremesd could be a woman desperately trying to be a man or 'playing in the man's world' as she sees it or a man (please!) desperately trying to blend between women." Do you even listen to yourself?

We are digressing from the topic- to ' Mar'

Well, as we are getting further and further from the topic of the main article, I think, we should not use this place here for the debate furhter on. I am happy you read my article too. I do not think that 'rape' is an exclusive term for violence against women. Men can be raped, also countries and even planets. There is such thing as spiritual rape, rape of the nation and even 'rape of Nankin'. So, I guess we should follow the good American tradition to agree to disagree although I do feel kinda sad that we lose the forest among the trees. The world is big, though and there is a place for all of us, so that we both can continue to be wrong:) I wish you all the best. Thanks Mark Sashine

No Subject Entered

No, actually we exactly on topic: half-assed notions about sex and women leading to violence. See, it doesn't matter much what you think. What matters is what is. The 'rape of Nankin'?! Good grief. The world is getting smaller by the day and, no, there is no a place for ignorance in it any longer. Most times, despite Faux News programing of people's brains, somebody is wrong and somebody is right. Fair and balanced does not mean giving equal credence to lies. I'm going to stick with people who have done their homework, not someone who buys into bull because it's just sooo much more comfortable. You can keep the warm and fuzzy crap, thank you. The human race stops their ignorant fear and hatred of women or we're all goin' up in dick-shaped, mushroom clouds. End of story.
