This article may put you in the mood the take a bath or shower. It's hard to imagine that you have NOT had some dealings or done some business with a company owned or connected to Fox News or one of its founders, or chief management, who have multiple connections to Rupert Murdoch's Fox News and newscorp.

I was doing some research into different news search sites and came to Excite, which is owned by Ask Jeeves, which, I discovered, was just bought by IAC- Interactive Corp. IAC is run by Barry Diller. The museum of broadcasting describes Diller:
Barry Diller is an innovative television executive best known for organizing a fourth network at FOX Broadcasting to challenge the domination of American prime time television by ABC, CBS, and NBC.

I always wondered why the local right wing station that plays Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck had ads from match.com. Now I know. It's one of the IAC companies.

If you find FOX to be one of the destructive forces in America, then, before you decide to do your best to boycott them, you might want to let IAC know that they should be advertising on or sponsoring progressive media, like your favorite progressive news and opinion websites, airamericaradio, shows by Thom Hartmann, Meria Heller, Doug Basham, Amy Goodman, Tony Trupiano, Mark Levine, the Young Turks, Peter Werbe, Lynn Cullen, Bernie Ward, Ray Taliaferro, Wisdom Radio, Pacifica, Democracy Now, Radio Left, and others. They could advertise in print media like The Nation, In These Times, Mother Jones, The Progressive, Counterpunch, Z Magazine, Yes, American Prospect....

Barry Diller left Fox to buy QVC. And that was just the beginning. IAC has become an internet behemoth.

Here's a partial list of IAC companies and here's a link to a Ask Jeeves, Citysearch, Classic Custom Vacations ,Entertainment.com, Evite ,Expedia ,Gifts.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire, HSN, ImprovementCatalog.com, Interval International, LendingTree, liveDaily, Match.com, RealEstate.com, ReserveAmerica, Ticketmaster, TripAdvisor, VacationSpot.com

Of course, if you are interested in knowing the reaches of Fox, it makes sense to know the Fox 'cosmology' itself. Here's a list, from the newscorp.com website (Rupert Murdoch's holding company.)
Filmed Entertainment: Fox Studios Australia, Fox Television Studios, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing And Merchandising, Twentieth Century Fox Television
Cable Network Programming: Fox News Channel, Fox Cable Networks Group, Fox Sports Net, FX Networks
Direct Broadcast Satellite TV: DIRECTV, Inc., British Sky Broadcasting, Sky Italia, Sky Latin America, SKY Brasil Serviços, Innova, Sky Multi Country
Television: FOX Broadcasting Company, Fox Sports, FOXSports.com on MSN, Fox Television Stations, STAR, ESPN STAR Sports, National Geographic Channel Asia, Phoenix Satellite Television Holdings Ltd., Twentieth Television, FOXTEL,
Magazines and Inserts: News America Marketing, Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc., The Weekly Standard
Newspapers:New York Post, News International, News Limited,
Book Publishers and other assets: HarperCollins, NDS Group, News Interactive

You may not recognize some of these, but they are incredibly far reaching. For example, News America Marketing produces advertising inserts in Sunday papers that they claim reach 68 million people weekly. Imagine if you contacted some of the advertisers in those inserts and told them you wouldn't buy from their store if they used that insert.

The layers of webs that tie together the right wing propaganda network are vast and deep. But they have vulnerabilitiesmostly in the form of advertisers. The boycott of Sinclair media, in 2004 produced concrete, successful effects. This approach can and should be done again and again. The goal should be to force the media to do their jobto report the truth, to ask tough questions, to use balanced coverage, to protect America from the abuses of cronyism, crooked politicians and corrupt corporate influences.

We need tough visions, tough plans and tough strategies to fight back. We're in a war a class war, a partisan war, and we have been losing due to lack of leadership, lack of courage, and because too many of the people who say they are on our side are really working for the bad guys, particularly the DLC and right wing Democrats.
