"War Criminal, Terrorist," Some Say, Escapes French Justice.
Ex-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, barely escaped with his rear-in gear, across the border with French Marshal's in hot pursuit. Wyatt Earp would have simultaneously congratulated the French, and gagged at the tortures approved by Bushites, as he did when his Deputy McMasters was tortured, burned and horse dragged. Stay tuned for part deux of the Rumsfeld drama, soap opera.
According to unconfirmed reports coming from Paris France, fired/retired U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, under cover of the US embassy escaped France today, a fugitive, fearing for his arrest and perhaps criminal prosecution regarding charges of "ordering and authorizing" the torture of detainees at both American-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the U.S. military's detainment center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba,
After human rights groups filed a criminal complaint against President George W. Bush's "war on terror" Czar/stooge for several years, U.S. embassy officials covertly tucked D. Rumsfeld away yesterday after a breakfast meeting in Paris given by the Foreign Policy magazine. Perhaps they might be charged with Obstructing Justice? Why not?
Under international law, law enforcement officials in France are required to begin investigations if a complaint is made whenever the alleged torturer is on French soil.
Activists in France, angrily de-greeted Rumsfeld, with shouts of "war criminal" and "murderer" at the above cited breakfast meeting. The U.S. embassy officials were uncooperative about the former defense secretary's whereabouts claiming "security reasons." Everything with these folks is either "national security" or "security reasons." Let's require now that his ex-boss goes to France, maybe they can swear out a warrant for the USA's version of Adolph Hitler.
Those justice seeking, human rights activist, anti-torture, protesters, in France are convinced that they ran the criminal out of Dodge City and he stumbled onto his donkey hightailing it for the border to Germany. He likes German because there are so many icons still extant of the idol of his group of Neo-cons, the man GW Bush's grandfather lent millions to for building factories which made the weapons that killed tens of millions, including many French and US troops. The money also assisted or cleared other funds to ultimately construct torture and death camps similar to those his grandson, in the low tradition of war criminals would build 80 years later. That idol of which I speak was known as Der Fuhrer and his presently living US imitator and co-workers, underlings and others, would like to see themselves held in such Shock and Awe terms, with slaves all atremble at their feet. Prescott Bush and his partner allegedly profited from that war just as the present Bush family is profiting through their company, the Carlyle Group's $15 billions in profits since this war began, at a rate of 34.7% profit each year. Most legitimate US Corporations are lucky to profit, if at all, at a rate of 2.5%-3.4% annually. Aside from the old Mafia, Carlyle Group has the highest profit average of which I have ever heard. Of course, it is far easier to profit if your son hires most of the contractors and pays them as No-Bid contractors (meaning there is no-competition for the contracts.). Ethics say that the No-bid contract is a criminal enterprise made famous by the Mafia and Adolph Hitler, and should be outlawed under penalty of death.
You see similar charges, a war crimes case against Rumsfeld, were constructed in Germany, but their federal court dismissed the charges against Herr Rumsfeld (anyone with an ounce of maturity would stop calling him "Rummy," which is a an anomaly, a cuddly term of endearment which mischaracterizes what people of prophetic sensibilities see as a vicious monster)-. The why of the dismissal has not been forthcoming and I am too fatigued with that bastard's visage and name, to go looking for it. He was not satisfied with defecating all over the reputation of the State, Illinois, my state, where many are so greedy and bigoted that they actually elected Rumsfeld to public office, he had to have diarrhea all over the Constitution and Bill of Rights of our nation as well.
Nonetheless, some activists have pointed out that under the Schengen agreement, which ended border checkpoints across most of the European Union, French law enforcement agents, may if they choose to, ignore the border into Germany and pursue escaping criminals.
One activist said with apparent glee, "Rumsfeld must be feeling how Saddam Hussein felt when U.S. forces were hunting him down" He added, said, "He may never end up being hanged like his old friend, but he must learn that in the civilized world, war crime doesn't pay." Many believe, however, both here and wherever men and women of justice prevail, that brutal and evil people should be put out of the misery by lifetime separation from decent people of society. Others feel he ought to should hung by his heels, until he repents, or at least until his shoes fall off.
The French League for Human Rights (LDH), the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR,) International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), all filed the complaint on Thursday when they discovered that the alleged war criminal Rumsfeld was to visit Paris last week.
"The Blood of the murdered cries out from the ground to me, and therefore justice must be served."

I proposed not calling any of these people by pet names that sound cuddely, like Rummy, sounds too much like the name of a pet, a cat or cutesy animal. Doing so makes them sound less dangerous and less evil. I call them instead, by their full names or names more notorious and less friendly sounding, name smore descriptive of the vicious murderers they are.
Hey thanks for reading and writing.

Having studied symbolism used by writers and artists, I should have thought of this, but didn't.
Just as Rummy signifies soft and cuddly, it also describes a falling down, drunken skid row bum who's brain and body are pickled in rum.
In the same manner, water boarding -- which sounds like a fun sport -- should be changed to neardeath by drowning or simulated drowning that can get really real or death by downing followed by reviving to be done again.

I dream of a future when the lot of these criminals are being chased all over the globe by law enforcement officers in hot pursuit. It is even fun to dream that the pursuit could be augmented by mobs armed with scythes, forks and clubs. After all, the movie monsters are treated to such justice, why not the real monsters?
The sad part is that by the time we can organize a mob, the scythes, forks and clubs may be all we have left to us, and we will likely have no better use for them.

When you write in the above article, "Ethics say that the No-bid contract is a criminal enterprise made famous by the Mafia and Adolph Hitler, and should be outlawed under penalty of death," to just what "ethics" are you referring? While I agree with the majority of your opinions on the issues you raise, I am puzzled by the essentialized "ethics," and wonder, if you might be referring to an existing body of knowledge in say, philosophy or international law or American contract law. If so, I would much appreciate your sharing the source--the info would be extremely helpful by way of a project I have underway. Thanks,

Some authors never let objectivity get in the way a good bit of hyperbole (sorry "license") I like to think that this one is a abhorrent slip.
If you read the author's bio he has no special standing in Law or Philosophy.
His grand title and the impression of authority it gives is limited to relevance to his specialty. Here it's merely enforcement of his right to use the title.

One of the critical aspects of using historical metaphors is separating history from the movies. The example you cite – Sherman McMaster – is the fictional creation of screenwriter Kevin Jarre. McMaster actually survived the Vendetta and no such incident occurred.
The Earp story does indeed provide comparisons to our issues in Iraq. I once told a friend – a Democratic strategist – that if President Bush really knew the saga of Wyatt Earp, he probably never would have entered Iraq. There have been stunning similarities, and the lessons of history could have been useful.
At this point, it may be valuable to note another incident from the real Earp story, not the movies. After the attempted assassination of Virgil Earp, Wyatt Earp resigned as Deputy Federal Marshal and sent a message to Ike Clanton that the battle should end. Clanton refused and soon Morgan Earp was murdered by assassins shooting through a window. Wyatt Earp then led McMaster and other deputies on a Vendetta of cold-blooded murder against the outlaws who had terrorized the town.
Peace offerings can be nice, but they do not always work.
