There is a theory, and right now, it is only a theory, that may become an accepted reality. However, probably only if some energetic Justice Department lawyer decides it is worth his time. However, aside from chasing environmentalists and ATETA violators, fascists have enough to do trying to entice American boys, girls, men and women, into fighting, dying and being maimed for life, protecting oil pirates. Yes, so that a handful of publicly traded companies and an even smaller number of billionaire executives can get even richer. In a world where those who chose to place wealth above al else, there is little solace for the faithful. God has been replaced by cash, not Johnny, but cold, hard, dollars. Almost anyone would rather be rich than holy, even many in the clergy. Woody Allen tells a story on his spiritual adviser, a rabbi, who talked him out of a $50,000 payment to become a shill in commercials for a Vodka company, "it is illegal, immoral, etc. for you to do a commercial for something you do not use..." Later Allen sees a beach ad with a scantily clad beauty sitting next to a fellow hoisting aloft a glass of the same Vodka, his Rabbi. It may have been a joke, but it has an air of truth about it.

The New Order National Legacy? Wealth is King, God, flag and sex is next, (but secretly the God, in that Legacy is a lie). Wealth is everything. In reality to most Democrats, and secretly, most Neo-cons, God is dead or a fantasy. They have to doublethink that, or admit they are going to Hell. Piety, by not self-righteous, fatuous, sanctimonious, hypocritical, hugely, proudly, worn and prominently displayed, Phylacteries, of Pecksniffian, idolaters of the self, but those whose luster of great goodness, is natural and empathetic, whose concern and love for the downtrodden of humankind, is genuine. Slim bodied, upturned, champagne glassed, perky breasted, skimpily clad, blonde desirables, well muscled, super athletes, all making more in one year than most of us in a lifetime. Sleeping with one or all of them is the desire of their lusting fans. Everything is entertainment, including outcome manipulated professional sports, where the owners/field officials/media, are in on the fraud, but the players/managers/fans, which the former hold the latter in contempt, are not. Movies, which display cleavage of breast and duff, and linger on thigh, and soft-core sexual titillation, replace authentic, flesh-based sexuality, and heroes winning games pre-programmed for dramatic conclusions are milder conspiracies, swallowed hook, line and heavy lead-weight, by dithering fans dying to believe in something Tangible. However, the dull-witted, the unthinking and the couch adhered, glorify, now able to orgasm with world class, beauties, without leaving the comfort of their Tivos, where nearby is drink, towel and KY Jelly.

Like all things of little spiritual merit, heroes begin to make too much mammon for the fans to stomach, envy sets in and the heroes become despised, and that envy replaces idolatry and fans believe the lies of media and reality fades into blame. Nations attack and destroy another nation and its people and blame the victims for the occupation. Media gurus, blame steroids for record setting home runs, steroids cannot, cause and ignore what they cover up, corruption of a game and those who watch it.

At any rate, for added entertainment value, this summer, watch baseball very closely on TV or in person. Particularly watch ball and strike calls. Watch close plays and some that are not so close. Watch key hitters and key pitchers. Watch assiduously and diligently. Watch, also the good looking females with halters and short-shorts, in the crowd, too. They are all there to be seen and to deter your thinking too much about reality.

Watch with an open mind, perhaps if you are a fan of a particular team playing an away game, this will be the time to have pad and pencil available and perhaps Pepto-Bismol, if you are eating chili-dogs and beer. If so, bring a photo-phone, or a pad, writing and drawing paper, to make detailed notes, (and perhaps drawings or photos of the girls wearing those halters and short-shorts, as we have) and mark down also all the bad calls and then figure the percentage that go to the home team. Season long; we got a ratio of 5.6:2.56 (or about 69%) favoring home team.

Watch because you may learn a dirty little secret or two about "Professional Baseball", which few, if any, field managers or players are aware, though they may suspect it from time-to-time, especially when the owners send the trainers boxes of "NEWSPORTS RUB with a New Secret Ingredient that will make the players feel Swell!"

Mechanics of The Fix!

If you are going to fix something, the fewer people in on the "Fix" the less chance of being caught-the umpires are more than enough and even they probably are not clear on what they are being asked to do, because the way it was allegedly put to them, it seemed to make sense. A lot of generals who once served in Iraq, lately probably are feeling the same way about what they were asked to do, and they probably didn't know what exactly is going on either. I'm not even sure the president knows, but I am relatively certain his understudy does. If I had such an understudy, I'd be damned sure that all the Secret Servicemen are on my side, and that I hire someone like Condi Rice or Anne Coulter as my food and drink taster...on second thought, maybe the pope, or Pat Robertson, instead.

In sports, like other industries things change because technologies change and one or more people discover a means of undoing and exploiting weaknesses in a system. Look at the years leading up to 1930 in Major League Baseball. They juiced the ball in 1930 because they saw that higher scores brought more fans into the parks. Every halfway decent player had an incredible season. It became an erratic but recognized path for owners to juice the balls from time to time. After Black Pitcher Bob Gibson's 1.12 ERA year almost 50 years ago, they dropped the pitcher's mound height from 18" to 10," where it still is, further enhancing the batter's advantages. Next, they will probably move the mound back a few feet.

Until Babe Ruth, a man scientifically tested to have superhuman reflexes and eye-hand coordination as well as incredible vision, figured out something about a thrown baseball, akin to Einstein's discovery of Relativity, the average number of home runs it took to lead the league was between 7.5 to 9.5 per season. Ruth's 59 home runs in 1921 were six to seven times higher than the average. When Ruth hit 54 homeruns in 1920 in 458 at bats and a batting average of .376 and a slugging average of .847 (87 year record), .532 OBA, and followed that up in 1921 with 54 home runs, 177 runs scored (all-time record), a .378 batting average, 457 Total bases (all time record), .846 Slugging average and .512 OBA, 170 BOB (85 year record) he hit more home runs in each of those two seasons than 14 of the entire 16 major league teams did! Only two entire teams in 1920 hit more than his 54 home runs, and only two entire teams in 1921 year hit more than his 59 total in that season! To match that feat today a player would have to hit about 285 home runs in one season

Ruth discovered that if you swing slightly upward, hitting just below the midpoint of the baseball, hitting the bottom half, the ball would traverse a long upward trajectory. Trouble with his discovery of hitting upward just below the middle of the baseball is, that you must be gifted with an array of skills to do that: 20/10 or better vision, superhuman reflexes, incredible eye-hand coordination, and you must have them, ALL, not just one of two of them. Even hitting a baseball thrown at 100 MPH at all, is a task for the most gifted players. Recall, also, that Ruth got a late start as a slugger; from 1914-1919, he was one of the best left-hand pitchers in baseball, going 94-48 with a 2.34 ERA. Add six to seven years to that total of 714, at his average, projecting, his start as a hitter to 1914, using a similar projection system for those first six years we have a faster acceleration 4 Hrs 1914, 11, 1915, 29, 1916, 49 1917, 55, 1918, 58 1919-adding 158 more or a total of 872 lifetime. But how would Ruth hit in the 21st Century? I projected a computer program of what Ruth would do if he played today. His numbers improved by more 20%. Ruth hit 714 Home Runs and batted .341 over 21 years of Major League Baseball, more than five/six of which he was a pitcher, one of the best in the game. He would have hit, had he started in 1986, as a hitter, and retired after 21 years, this year he would have, as he did in 1920, blown away the competition.

When you consider the figures I supply keep in mind, superhuman Ruth, one of a kind. To do what he did in the 1920 and 1921, a player today would have to hit hundreds of home runs in each season.

Also consider stolen bases, for a moment. Recall that for thirty years, between 1930 and 1960 only three players stole as many as 50-61 bases in both leagues and in the national league 37 was the most bases a player had stolen in a single season for 30 years. In 1962 Maury Wills stole 104 bases breaking Ty Cobb's record of 96 made in 1915, In the next several decades 100 or more bases was stolen in a season 8 times, with Rickey Henderson setting the modern record at 130 bases in 1982 and setting the lifetime record at 1450, 50% more than the old record of 892 by Ty Cobb. There were no drugs involved in that, just a breakthrough on techniques and tactics.
