A TIME FOR EUTHANASIA

Tell A Friend

The old dog has outlived its usefulness. Granted, we have loved it dearly for its caring companionship and its contribution to the safety which we have found so precious. It still has the endearing tail wag when we approach and always seems glad to act in an ingratiating manner, but the teeth have grown smooth and the body is reluctant to move. When threatened, it can only growl and bare its now-useless teeth, trying to convince us that it is still "on the job" and performing its usual duties. But, however, much we love it, we most let it go; we must put it out of its misery for its own good, and ours. We are as helpless with it as we would be without it and it is time to find a new dog that can still hunt. Yes, friends, it is time to give up and end the life of the Democratic Party.

For too many years, the official party line has been one of compromise and conciliation, of "playing nice" no matter how rough the game may get. When faced with campaign after campaign of Republican dirty tricks, they have deigned to fight back in a similar matter with the truth as a powerful weapon and expose the opposition as the phonies they actually are or to oppose the infractions against the very laws in the formation of which they have paricipated. They stand silently while the Constitution is blatantly reduced to a "goddam piece of paper" and the principles stated in the Declaration of Independence merely an antiquated political statement. One by one, the amendments to the Constitution which guarantee the civil rights of each and every American citizen have been negated in the name of "National Security".

Since the dastardly destruction of the World Trade Center, our "Democratic" representatives have bought into every lie that has been offered by the adminstration. They blandly accept the claim that "the world changed on September 11, 2001". But those whose vision is still twenty-twenty can see that the "world" is still the same. It is the United States that has changed, and they are complicit in that change. The one-time bastion of peace and freedom, the example to all the world of what a nation should be has fallen into disrepute with a greater rapidity than the dive in President Bush's poll ratings. They believed the President's rantings that "they hate us and want to kill us, so we have to kill them first", and they allowed the unnecessary invasion of a helpless Iraq at the cost of the abandonment of the search for Osama Bin Laden and now they cannot even bare their ineffective teeth in an effort to correct the dire situation which that caused and to require withdrawal of our troops.

After the towers fell, we watched, aghast, as blanket authority was given to the adminstrative branch to make all decisions, the oppressive Patriot Act was passed by a Congress, most of whom had not even read it. And then, rather than to admit that they had made a mistake, they renewed it on request! Now and then, there have been "objections" and a show of a bit of independence, but it always disappears when it is time to count the votes. They sit by and do nothing as the laws that they pass are nullified by the President on signing by "administrative exceptions"; they see pay-offs and corruption and make little or no investigation into whether or how they can bring this arrogant administration back under Constitutional control. They are afraid to attempt any constructive measures because they have lost confidence in right and truth as the strongest weapons of democracy, recognizing only things they can count, majority and the ballot box, things that they cannot win unless they demonstrate a passion for protecting them.

Every time they attempted to stand up to protect the people, Mr. Bush would scream "Nine-eleven", and they would scurry under the porch and then return to their docile submission, allowing the illegal orders to stand and the rights of the citizens to be even further compromised. Now, Nancy Pelosi has announced that there will be no movement toward impeachment if they win the majority in Congress this year! The only possible advancement in the fortunes of this old and decrepit party is furnished by the penicillin of progressive branches within the party who are working on the state and local levels, but the infections in the head of the aging body are fighting back against this needed medication and the prognosis is not good. The Progressives are finding new and aggressive candidates to run for office, but their choices are too often rejected by party-liners who are chosen by the party leaders for their "years of loyalty and hard work". Thus, there will be no permission for the necessary application of "new blood" to create the energy that will allow the body to recover.

But time is short! The wolves are circling at the door and even our telephones are useless to make calls for help and a young, aggressive watchdog who will fight tooth-and-nail to save the inhabitants of this nation from destruction is essetnial to our survival. The endangered people of this nation/family must make a decision and make it soon. The "old dog" must be put down so that a new one can take over and perform the duties of protecting us from the corporate wolves. Let us hope that we can quickly find one with real teeth and the willingness, wit, and strength to use them effectively on our behalf. The decision can no longer be delayed and the first step must be taken.

It's time to euthanize the Democratic Party.

The author is a very "with-it" old lady who aspires to bring a bit of truth, justice, and commom sense to a nation that has lost touch with its humanity in the search for societal "perfection".

First we must destroy the enemy

I agree Mary, bur first we must destroy the enemy.

The Greedy Old Party must be ripped apart, torn down, stomped on, shredded, burned and sown with salt. Every republican voter must be stripped of property and citizenship and deported to Australia.

Once we’ve eradicated the source of all Evil in America, we can send a troop of boy scouts with fly swatters to scourge chickenhearted Democrats through the streets of D.C., and out of town.

Then we can rebuild America the way it was meant to be.

"We have met the enemy....

....and he is us," as that famous POGO comic strip once said.

If a Democrat is "elected" President by Diebold et al in 2008, their first order of business will be to pardon all the Republicans who are guilty of war crimes, lying to Congress, obstructing justice, or other high crimes and misdemeanors that the Democrats, even with a majority in both Houses, will never impeach them for.

The job of the Republicans is to do evil. The job of the Democrats is to keep anyone from making a big fuss about it. To smooth the way to power for Republicans in a gentlemanly, bipartisan manner, to support the Republicans even when even Bush had admitted that neither Iraq nor Sadaam Hussein had anything to do with 9/11, to vote for whatever the Republicans want passed, and in the case of progressive and minority Democrats, to beg their leadership to support them instead of supporting the Republicans, which will never happen.

Wasn't it Churchill who said, "All that is necessary for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing?" Well the Republicans are evil and the Democrats do nothing.

You cannot "win" an election in this country without incurring great debts to your party leadership. And the party leadership of both parties operates in the interests of corporations, not in the interests of people.

There apparently are still some people who think it was only coincidence that prior to 9/11 all our intelligence agencies failed, that on 9/11 all our air defenses failed, and that for the first time in history large buildings damaged by airplanes and fires collapsed into their own footprints at free-fall speed. Why if you don't accept that all these impossible things were just coincidences, you must be a conspiracy theorist.

Our Constitution does not say, "We the political parties of the United States of America." It does not say, "We the elected representatives of the United States of America." It doesn't even say, "We the corporations of the United States of America." I have a copy right here, and what it says is, "We the people of the United States of America."

Our elected representatives can't do it. The two big political parties won't do it. And the corporations are going to keep right on running things through privatized elections with invisible ballots counted in ways that cannot be fully observed or verified, until we the people stand up and say enough is enough. Personally, I've been saying it for a long time. Mary Pitt is right: the patient has been brain-dead and on life support for decades, with no possible hope of recovering consciousness, for no other reason than so that the hospital can collect the insurance payments. The only way left for us to demonstrate our love is to pull the plug and let them die. But to do it we'll have to fight the hospital and the legislators who are profiting from the situation and would like it to continue for another few decades. Their sole concerns are monetary, not humane. What are our concerns? Would we want someone to pull the plug if we were in that situation, and, like the Democrats, had neglected to write a living will?

blandly accept the claim that "the world changed on Septembe

The world did change on 9/11/01. For the first time since the War of 1812, Americans were killed on American soil by foreign agents operating to change the political configuration of our country.

Every single one of us was outraged 0n 9/11/01 by the slaughter of over 3500 people whose only mistake was that they went to work that morning.

The Democratic Party is entirely behind bringing the perpetrators of that heinous act to justice or bringing justice to them.

Even when the GOP Administration took three weeks to mount an assault against Afghanistan to accomplish this the Democratic Party supported our President and armed forces.

Unfortunately, five years later, al Qaada, the group behind the murder of 3500 New Yorkers at their jobs is still at large and committing new atrocities. Meanwhile President Bush mouths plattitudes and sends young men to needless deaths in the Iraq war that has diverted our resources from the Global War on Terror.

Under the advice of our President and Commander-in-Chief a number of Democrats voted to authorize the President wide lattitude in dealing with Saddam Hussein.

What is the advice this author would give to those Democrats? Would she advise they vote against the commander-in-chief when he tells them he needs their support to confront an enemy after a devastating attack that wentonly killed 3500 Americans while they were trying to make a living?

The GOP Administration used the 9/11/01 attack as a pretense to attack Iraq.

Remember, Bush is the one who lied.

Bush is the one who misused the power of the office he holds to misrepresent the danger we face.

Bush is the one who has been unable to capture Osama bin Laden or to shut down al Qaada.

Bush is the one who claims that we have not been attacked since 9/11/01 but has the blood of over 2000 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Spaniards, Englishmen, Indonesians, Australians and Arabs on his hands in the failed war on terror.

The Democratic Party is in favor of the war on terror.

The Democratic Party has supported the President and the GOP majority in Congress to defeat and eliminate Islamicist terror.

The Democratic Party opposes the needles war of choice against the Arabs in Iraq and the Democratic Party opposes the hijacking of the Global War on Terror for the GOP's political purposes.

The world changed on 9/11/01 when 3500 American were murdered at their desks.

No Democrat will denounce the war on terror, but we resent and oppose the Bush Administration's diversion of America's effort from fighting terrorist to fighting for oil in Iraq.

If Mary Pitt or any others want to give up the war on terror and let the 3500 New Yorkers' death go unavenged, that is their business.

But Democrats want the guilty ones punished for the murder of 3500 of our fellow citizens.

Democrats want the rest of us, including Arabs, Australians, Europeans and even Frenchmen to live in a world safe from Islamicist terror and are willing to take the steps necessary to protect the innocent and the peaceful.

If the distinction between opposing Bush's optional war for glory and support for protecting us from people who want to kill us is too subtle for some to make, then so be it.

Euthenasia

If it were possible to "euthanize" a political party and solve a problem the lady is right; but the problem is not political parties but the domination of our country by corporations. With their deep pockets these sociopathic robots can buy anything and people are the easiest thing to buy if the price is right.

Think Think Tank and you think that the Brookings Institute is a liberal organization but among its corporation sponsors is the Smith Richardson Foundation financed by Vics Vaporub with $250 million in assets. Israel, John Kerry, Dianne Feinstein and the Israel Lobby. All of them are financed and have corporation CEOs on their boards.

The K Street scandals are only the tip of the iceberg. Corporations run this country. They poison it with petrochemicals and gas guzzeling cars. They have the regulaters in their pocket and our children are drinking milk with hormones and antibiotics in it. While the Republicans are in the grip of Big Oil, "Defense" conctractors, and big Pharma the Democrats are waiting in the wings as the loyal opposition and because of public revulsion at the republicans are now getting the lion's share of corporation political contributions.

Euthanize the corporations for being non-owned mechanical constructs with their only ethic being "the bottom line". Pull their charters, seize their properties, deny them personhood, and demand that all business have a single owner or be a partnership. Turn them into worker owned cooperatives and instead of predatory organizations they will be social organizations.

Can it be done? Yes--if we make it an issue and put them above their human sociopathic hit people. It is time we quit trying to solve the wrong problem.
