To Nancy Pelosi with 1 million Iraqis dead; when will impeachment be on the table? by Mary MacElveen Page 1 of 1 page(s) |

As we have listened to endless coverage of O.J. Simpson’s arrest for armed robbery; do we really need to hear his name or see his face considering the insurmountable causalities in Iraq? Personally, I do hope they get him this time. But, leave that to the judicial system of Clark County, Nevada. What we really should be focusing on is the casualty rate in Iraq. In their email alerts sent out everyday, Buzzflash.com includes the both the number of military casualties as well as Iraqi. Thank you, Buzzflash.com for your public service. For quite sometime now, they have been reporting that one million Iraqis lives have been ended in this “war of oil” as cited by Alan Greenspan (former Federal Reserve Chair). The source they have been using is Just Foreign Policy and as one reads this article, according to them, 1,044,667 innocent Iraqis have been killed since the beginning of our illegal occupation of that country.

Let's put this bluntly...
(This is not MY opinion of the value of human life, but it IS the opinion of way too many Americans and ALL of our American leaders.) Iraqis don't vote. Iraquis don't contribute to campaigns. Iraquis don't MATTER. by Charlie L (2 articles, 4 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 747 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Monday, Sep 17, 2007 at 12:28:07 AM

"To Nancy Pelosi with 1 million Iraqis dead; when will impea
The Iraq war is not an impeachable offense. It's stupid and offensive, but was sanctioned by the Congress. What ARE impeachable offenses are the removal of habeas corpus from prisoner rights, illegal oversight of American citizens and the abrogation of treaties, including the Geneva Convention and ABM agreement with Russia, without legislative approval. An enormity of additional impeachable offenses grow out of the tortures and illegalities resulting from the Iraq conflict. A stupid, unnecessary and wrongheaded war doesn't rate as an impeachable offense. The grabbing of unprecedented and unconstitutional presidential power as a result of terror demagoguery does require impeachment--not as a punishment to this president, but as a warning and control on those presidents who follow. by Jim Freeman (108 articles, 53 quicklinks, 227 diaries, 386 comments) on Monday, Sep 17, 2007 at 8:09:17 AM

Reply: War as a reason for impeachment
Hi Jim, I have to respectfully disagree; the illegal war of aggression and now occupation of Iraq is a focal point for impeaching this President. Rather than laying out all the clear-cut reasons why in a comment, I would suggest everyone read, The Case For Impeachment, Chapter 5: Deadly Lies and an Illegal War, by David Lindorff and Constitutional Attorney, Barbara Olshansky. Certainly, there are many additional and irrefutable reasons to impeach Bush, particularly his violation of the FISA Law and subsequent lying concerning it, but the illegal invasion of Iraq is the epicenter of this President’ transgressions against the United States, its Constitution and the people of this nation. If you read the above suggested chapter (or whole book, which is excellent) you will come to understand there is no greater subversion of his oath of office, and an example of a High Crime that a President can perpetrate, by deliberately misleading Congress and the American people about committing the country unnecessarily to war. -Frank J Ranelli, Associate Editor by Frank J. Impeachment must be on the table!!!!
I don't know where you are listening to the response to this but in my house and others that I know about, the screaming is deafening. We must impeach if this country is to survive. We not only must send a message to future occupants of that white house that actions such as these will not be tolerated but we must also say out loud that these people are traitors and traitors should not be running our country! Remember Benedict Arnold and act now or this country will go the way of ancient Rome. We are well down that road. by Caronome (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 327 comments [15 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Monday, Sep 17, 2007 at 1:02:08 PM

Impeachment
Mr. Freeman, Congress approved the war based on LIES, that is why impeachment is a proper sanction for lying to Congress. Too many lives have now been lost based on those LIES. by Archie (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 1750 comments [111 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Monday, Sep 17, 2007 at 1:50:53 PM

Reply: "Impeachment"
Well, you guys all sound like I'm not in favor of impeachment. I certainly am, but I think the case is stronger on issues that don't have as much 'wiggle room; as the war. by Jim Freeman (108 articles, 53 quicklinks, 227 diaries, 386 comments) on Friday, Sep 21, 2007 at 12:36:00 PM
