Seeing Lori Wallach on Bill Moyers Journal program last night, it became clear to me that the ONE candidate the democrats should consider and draft for president is Lori Wallach. Here is a bright, articulate, lawyer who has spent the last 20 years fighting against the trade fascism imprinted on the American society by the ruling elites. Virtually all the ills we now suffer, with the exception of the Iraq war, are due to these "free trade" agreements and "Fast track" end runs voted for by many phony "democrats" and foisted upon us by Bilderberger Bill Clinton. We have now lost the ability to produce our essentials, must devalue our currency "in order to compete" with slave labor, and have given a Totalitarian communist-capitalist regime power over our future. Can you say stupid? Irresponsible? Traitor? In short, in a very disparate and undemocratic world, to have suddenly given away our First World markets, gettting nothing in return, and having no right to compensating/incentivizing tariffs (to encourage, and get, higher global wages, standards and environmental performance before opening our markets further) is clearly the most stupid and irresponsible mistake of the last century. In my 1993 book, Cap-Com, The Economics Of Balance, I proposed such a democratic and incentivizing tariff system as appropriate for First World nations entering a global market of corrupt, undemocratic, slave-driven "free markets." It is even more appropriate and necessary today than I envisioned. Today, we, and other first world nations, must exit WTO-NAFTA and re-formulate the entire undemocratic trade schema – otherwise we are looking at continual decline and dependency upon undemocratic, fascist, regimes, and the production of global oligarchy and oligopoly – i.e., the worst of worlds and a most dismal outcome. But this is exactly the way the ruling elite planned it. In the 1992 election, the entire GATT-WTO-NAFTA issue was buried in the corporate media so that, five days after the election, NAFTA would be passed in a midnight legislative coup... as they did with the "Federal" Reserve Act in 1913. I remember Ralph Nader with his Ten Questions for Congresspersons on the NAFTA bill. He wanted to see if "our" representatives knew what was in it. Only one Congressman took the challenge, he failed the test and his ignorance of the real terms buried in the agreement caused him to change his vote to NO. The other scumbags didn’t have the guts and went on to pass a a massive, seminal, trade bill they hadn’t even read - surely, one of the greatest mis-representations in our history and the basis for impeachments and removal from office. Raise your hands, who voted for NAFTA? These so-called "representatives" - who mis-represented the great, wage-earning, majority - voted for a system in which you do not have the right to vote for your own representive to the WTO, and in which three guys in Belgium meet in secret and decide our economy’s fate.. with no appeal process. Absolute idiocy. The point is we fail to give Ralph Nader and Lori Wallch credit for their epic efforts and struggle against a regime foisted upon us by... phony democrats and fascist republicans. They were right yesterday, and are right today. A tried and true crusader for democratic and responsible trade, like Lori Wallach, is the right candidate for our times.
