Intelligent Design, road to Theocracy? by Harry Kurchner (Posted by Rob Kall) Page 1 of 1 page(s) |

Is there any doubt that this push towards theocracy is a cynical appeal to the simple folk of this religious, and my beloved, but afraid country? In the effort to expand their power (and wealth) these religo-megalomaniacs are exploiting the fears that this ever more chaotic world are inspiring in these folk. Religion is the opiate of the masses and the religo-right are pushing a powerful drug.
Unfortunately for this country the Rovean republicans haved hitched their snake oil wagon to this movement they now affectionately call their base. The power that the right wing politicians and the neo-political evangelicals are now wielding has been an ingenious Machiavellian move in the works for some time and has borne tremendous if not unholy results.
In their lust for control they are pushing ruin on our country, and way of life as well. The simple fact that science pursuits and science education are being stifled and even suppressed in these nascent moves by our Americans mullahs and political leaders is made even more ominous when we see that education, especially in math and science here in the USA has fallen way behind other first world countries and even in upcoming second and third world countries.
At a time when China has just surpassed us (for the first time ever for any country) in the exportation of IT technology we are going the way of the Islamic world of old (the culture that was once the light of the world). The American shariya law they would have us install will have us rewrite the constitution where there is no church and state separation and public school is a place for the lower class masses to be indoctrinated in Bible verse. The newly minted graduates will then be qualified to do what? To quote scripture and take their place in the local Wal-Marts? Is this what they mean by Intelligent design? A dumbing down of intelligence by design?

Re : «Intelligent design, road to theocracy»
Fellow readers may be interested to learn that in Viterbo Italy, Signor Luigi Cascioli has sued the Roman Catholic Church in the person of parish priest Don Enrico Righi for lying concerning the historicity of the figure of Jesus. The whole process can be followed in detail at Cascioli's website ( http://www.luigicascioli.it/ ), where, in addition to in Italian, descriptions are available in English, French, and Spanish.... by mhenriday (0 articles, 17 quicklinks, 5 diaries, 157 comments) on Wednesday, Jan 25, 2006 at 3:00:49 PM
