Hannity Pulls a "Michael Richards" on Obama

On his radio program yesterday, Hannity took a little time out of his busy democrat-and-middle-republican-bashing hate-fest and sided with the critics of Michael Richards.

A caller tried to suggest that black racism directed at white people had risen over the last four decades. Hannity made a grand show of deflecting this caller's suggestions. He went on to say that racists are ignorant.

That sounds good, like Hannity actually used his position of influence for the good of mankind.

Well half-an-hour later Sean gave us a hint of the smear campaign he and his conservative co-hit men can be expected to use should Barrack Obama decide to run for president in '08.

He played a clip of Obama's last name severely edited so that it sounded like a skipping record, except an "s" sound was added in a strateg places.

To describe it linguistically, I will need your full creative participation: "Oba, ama, bama, o, os, ama, sama, o, sama, bama."

Yeah, that's as in Bin Laden. Hannity would denounce racism in one breath and then exploit the similarities in sounds between Obama's foreign-sounding name (he's ethnic) and Osama's, who is the world's most reviled terrorist and expect to get a free pass?

It's pure slander. To associate one of the most decent politicians in Washington with the world's most hated murderer....Hannity smiles the whole time. He knows damn well what he's doing. He knows how his audience thinks. He knows the dark racist corners of their minds.

F-er hates America. He was born in to the wrong country. Hates freedom of speech, hates the government (the best one in the world mind you, and the only one that's gonna keep your butt from the corporate wolves.) Hates freedom of religion. There are some countries in the Middle East that Hannity might want to check out.

In other news, Hannity is sounding like the broken record that is the Republican Party. The "Party" is in utter meltdown. No fresh ideas, no fresh talking points, no good news.

Hannity was out there today throwing around the "weak on terror" card. He's out there telling everyone that Iraqis are gonna come get us. Are we talking about the same poor Iraqis that don't have running water? What are they going to do? Paddle over on a piece of drift wood?

"How are other nations going to cooperate with us in the future if we just pull out because it's gotten politically dicey?" Hannity asked. If we just pulled out when it started getting politically dicey we would have left a long time ago. To stay there until doomsday might appease Hannity, but the guy's got no vision.

I mean what is Hannity seeing that we're not? What looks so damn rosy about staying in Iraq? He's clinging to his position beyond any allowance for rationality. Nobody's buying this boogeyman argument anymore. It just adds cause to doubt the sanity of these right wing hacks.

They're loosing it. And it's so fun to watch because we knew it all along.

Just a note. The clip that you are referring to that Hannity played is actually an uneditted sound byte from Sen. Ted Kennedy (D., Mass) speaking at the National Press Club.

The full transcript can be found here: click here

The actual quote is: "Why don't we just ask Osama bin -- Osama Obama -- Obama what -- since he won by such a big amount. Seriously, Senator Obama is really unique and special."

It would Be Helpful.....

.....If you actually tracked down the source of the sound bite that you vilify. It is in fact a direct recording of Ted Kennedy mangling Barak Obama's name. While you can perhaps fault Hannity for making fun of Kennedy's inability to speak English, he did not create the recording. If you want to question anyone's racism it would need to be Kennedy's for associating Obama with Osama bin Laden.

re: "It would Be Helpful....."

Perhaps we should both stop allowing facts to get in the way of a ludicrous rant, eh?

The tape

Please. Saying that tape is unedited is ludicrous. Hannity's production team has clearly doctored it.

He plays it over and over in the GOPAC manner he was taught: "use them to insult them." So, he uses an edited version of Kennedy's gaffe to associate in the deep white people subconscious that Obama = Osama. Then, he sends his lemmings here to attack Mr. Powers. It's classic Gingrich and classic Hannity.

You want to talk unedited tapes: why don't we hear more of Sean Hannity comparing the Mein Kampf to the Koran like he did last night on TV.

That man is an amoral partisan, whose only interest is to hamstring Dems.

Another case of lazy journalism?

Mr. Powers article is based on two false premises. The first is that this is a made up tape by Hannity, and second, that Hannity just started using this tape AFTER Senator Obama was thought to be a 2008 Presidential candidate.

The tape is a clip of the actual words of none other than Senator Kennedy (D-MA). This wasn't a tape edited by Hannity, it was the Senator who could not pronounce Senator Obama's name correctly.

This is not a new clip that has just started to be played on the Hannity show, it played over and over and over again for months.

The slander in this case is not from Hannity, but from Mr. Powers, who seems to be too lazy to check his information before it is printed.

Is Mr. Powers going to correct his article? Is Mr. Powers going to question the motives of Senator Kennedy for mispronouncing??
