Fox News Fascism – Ron Paul Excluded From Debates

Tell A Friend

December 29, 2007

Fox News has made its bones off of being a fake news agency. Everyone knows it. While it worked for several years the shine has begun to diminish and the people are waking up to the real damage it can do to mainstream media. Granted, most mainstream media is really no better than Fox News, as they are all corporately controlled by companies that are in bed with the war machine. MSNBC is learning the lessons now as such obviously biased hosts such as Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson have failed miserably next to the more honest Keith Olbermann. America is slowly coming around to the notion that news should actually be fundamentally fair. Fox of course has been notoriously unfair and imbalanced for years now. Thus it should come as no surprise that Fox News has decided to once again try to subvert the democratic process by excluding Dr. Ron Paul from their upcoming GOP debate in New Hampshire.

This is what happens when people try to laugh off the power a Fox News can have. Because they have been tolerated as being “real”; they have been at the table to host debates. The first GOP debate hosted by Fox was a lesson in bias. On the stage were eight men who were battling over who could blow the world up better, and Dr. Paul. Fox tried their best to marginalize Paul as best they could. He received half the amount of questions as everyone else. You could hear Fox jack up the volume on the other candidates’ microphones when Paul was responding so the snickering could be heard loud and clear. At one point, in a moment that should be embarrassing for news professionals everywhere, the moderator asked a follow up question to Paul that said, “So you take your marching orders from al Qaeda?” Paul swiftly slapped Chris “fake news guy” Wallace back into line by saying he took his orders from the Constitution. Yet after all of this Fox also tried to stack the post debate against Paul as well. They had seen how Dr. Paul was winning all of the online polling after each previous debate so they switched the method. Instead of voting online, you had to text in who you thought won the Fox debate. Lo and behold, Ron Paul was crushing his competition yet again, much to the dismay of Sean Hannity who exclaimed, “Oh no not again, Ron Paul did not win this debate!”

Apparently Fox has figured out how to deal with the Paul phenomena this time around though; they have excluded him from the debates altogether. Never mind that he is polling higher in New Hampshire then some of the others who were invited. Never mind that he has out performed all of his competition in fundraising, WITHOUT taking lobbyist/corporate monies. Never mind that he raised six million dollars in one day. The issue is simply to subvert democracy and have a fake news agency tell you who you can listen to for presidential candidates. It is beyond appalling, it is sickening. I do not care if you are right or left, republican or progressive; you must be disgusted by this move to try and willfully interfere with our electoral processes.

Let’s face it; we know why Fox has taken this tact. First, Ron Paul is the only one who has a different opinion then the rest of the GOP crowd. Fox wants the consistent message of the neocon sent at the debates. Iraq is going great, Iran should be blown up next, and only the big strong republicans can protect you from the boogey-man…and Hillary. Fox does not want to hear Dr. Paul injecting sanity into the debate. They do not want to hear how it is unconstitutional to go to war without congressional approval. They do not want to hear about how the country is broke and we need to pay down the debt. They do not want to hear anything that diverts from the script they have orchestrated.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the machine is scared. They are scared of the momentum they see Ron Paul generating from a real grassroots effort. They are scared of the message that says it is not ok to blow up other countries for the profit of a few. They are scared of the message that says civil liberties matter. They are scared because they see that someone may get elected who understands the precarious situation we are in with our currency. They are scared because all of their efforts to mock and marginalize, to ignore and dismiss have only further emboldened the cause for liberty.

Regardless of the reasons though, it is a dark day for our democracy when any news agency, even a fake one, can purposefully and maliciously try to affect the outcome of a presidential election. I have read that Fox News will be embarrassed if Paul ends up winning the New Hampshire primary despite this blackout. Nonsense. Fox News does not care about being embarrassed. They have been an embarrassment for a decade and they do not care. That is how Rupert Murdoch operates. He does not care about appearance or reputation. He cares only about imposing his narrow-uber-conservative view upon the world. He does not care how he does it.

I would call for a boycott of Fox News but no one really takes them seriously. Just remember this point in history America. The machine is now telling you who you can even listen to and the rest of the media is complicit in their silence over it. There are many waypoints on the road to fascism and today we are staring at yet another. Dr. Paul has warned us repeatedly about the fascist state we are heading more deeply into. I guess that message was heard loud and clear by the fascists who have no decided to try and silence him. Liberty and freedom however have a way of rising above the white noise generated by the machine that seeks to stifle them. I pray that continues to happen in the face of the blatant undermining of everything we stand for as a nation.

Freedom of speech

This is all about censorship.  After all, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time.  The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like "America Deceived"  from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever.  Do not fret Paulites, Ron Paul wins this election handily.

It's depressing

You know, TV really brainwashes people. And the people usually don't know they're being brainwashed. Ron Paul's exclusion will go over most people's heads, just like Kucinich's exclusion from the Iowa debates barely registered with people, and just like the crazy ballot situation in Michigan is barely registering with people, and the electronic voting machine problem isn't ruffling feathers either. The fact that Hillary Clinton is even a candidate and not permanently disgraced by all the skeletons in her closet is just another testament to the brainwashing potential of television.

I know alot of people who feel that information has to be on TV or its not really important. Information from books isn't really valid with these folks, it has to be on the news to be worth believing. Which is a serious depency problem, and very common.

I hope Fox News crashes and burns forever over this incident. Or that people will wake up and boycott them, at the very least. Until Americans free themselves of these brainwashing entrapments, we're only going dowhill fast.

You Had To See This Coming

Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel have already been shoved aside over at the cult of the jackass 'debates'. Serious candidates are mocked and marginalized....it's all one big sham democracy dictated by the corporate elite and the pocket media kingmakers.

How dare they discuss real issues instead of dispensing lemming food.

Did you see the article from the UK about FOX excluding Ron Paul because a topic of the forum is going to be about the Drug War?  http://cannazine.co.uk/content/view/3216/1585/

Meanwhile I was thinking how earlier this year the Democrats were refusing to debate on FOX and how ironic it is FOX won't have Ron Paul.  I bet that Sean hannity fellow who HATES Ron Paul is the culprit.  ;))

And again, I agree with Leon RE: Your talent.  Kudos

This is just incredible

I'm writing from the UK. I'm a very passionate Ron Paul supporter. This behaviour by Fox beggars belief. There is no doubt they are scared and on the back foot. This insane policy will backfire and as Ron Paul has suggested, he will win this skirmish. Fox News are making a total ass of themselves. The only way they can do this with confidence is knowing the results in Iowa and New Hamphire will be rigged. If that turns out to be the case, I fear things will start to get ugly. But this is so serious, IT CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND.

Great news!

This is great news!  First, it destroys any shred of credibility that Fox News might still have had as a legitimate news gathering operation.  Second, it will only boost the Ron Paul campaign.  People who had never thought much about Ron will now wonder why the media is trying to silence him -- and start listening to what he has to say.  When they find out that he's reasonable and makes sense and doesn't deserve t be silenced, they will become supporters.  People who already support him will be galvanized to work harder.  While Ron would most likely have been largely ignored during the debate, as he has been in past debates, he will now become a cause celebre' because of his unfair treatment.  This could very well push him over the edge in New Hampshire.  The secret message Fox is sending New Hampshire voters -- and voters everywhere -- is that they aren't capable of hearing all the candidates and making up their own minds -- Fox News must be the filter.  This is sure to rile up New Hampshire voters.

For a funny satire on the MSM -- very reminiscent of Fox News -- see the new YouTube music video, from the international award-winning zombie musical feature film, "Song of the Dead."  It features horror movie veteran Reggie Bannister (Phantasm, Wishmaster, Bubba Ho-tep) as the president of the U.S. facing a crisis (a "zombie terrorist" attack).  It's a great send up, not only of the MSM, but of the president and the war on terrorism.  To see it, go to:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=qQmkkoxSKYw

I don't support RP, but this is truly an outrage.

The US corporate media has now banned the only 3 genuinely antiwar candidates of the 2 big-business parties. The media is proclaiming loud & clear that if you're not on board with the US war machine, you can't participate in electoral politics. It doesn't matter if you're a past or present member of Congress -- you must be pro-war, or you can't be heard.

Paul is not what his overly-enthusiastic supporters want to believe he is. But compared to the other Republican clowns who will be appearing on that New Hampshire stage, he's positively a sage, & pure as the driven snow. He's arguably the only Republican in the current field who belongs on the NH stage more than he belongs in jail or in a mental institution.

he should be allowed to debate. I was not happy that Kucinich and Gravel were booted in the last Democratic debate either even though neither is my candidate.

There has to be a better way to do this. To come up with a list of viable candidates and make sure they get equal debate time. I understand in theory what some of these organizations (not Fox) are trying to do, but it doesnt come off properly. Excluding a candidate this late in the game, whether it is Paul, Kucinich, Gravel, or anyone else after they have participated all along doesnt make sense.

Democracy

Man's capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man's inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary."
- Reinhold Niebuhr, American theologian (1892-1971)

FOXNews cannot silence the people.  I cannot believe the reality of Fox news excluding Ron Paul from the FOX or rather the FIXed, debates. Why does FOX even go through the motions to have a debate.  Oh, yeah--I guess they will be giving the questions and the way they want THEIR CHOSEN CANDIDATE to answer.  Do you seriously think that you can choose the next President of the United States. Obviously, Democracy has no meaning to you, FOX executives.  I mean does FOX think the American people are fools?  What an insult to the American people and the election process as a whole by picking and choosing who can debate and who cannot.  I have watched your network.  But my eyes have been opened. I WILL NO LONGER WATCH YOUR NETWORK. Now, because of this censorship of picking and choosing which candidates YOU (the FIXed network executives) want the American people to hear; I will encourage others to not watch your network.  I will make the effort of phone calling, emailing, text messaging, and faxing others to not watch your programming. I will contact your sponsors and tell them that I will not buy any of their products and I will tell others to not buy their products.  I am in shock.  Look up the word 'democracy' FIX executives; it is not a synonym for demagoguery.

Anthony,

Yes. Tucker is a big supporter of Ron Paul. Please search for any of the Paul/Tucker YouTube clips and you'll see. While you're at it look for Paul/Kucinich YouTube clips, you'll find that when Paul was asked if there's another presidential candidate he could support, his answer was "No", except for DK. Here's a quote from Paul.

"just happens that Dennis Kucinich is a friend of mine and he's an honest person.."

And since you mentioned Keith Olberman in your article, from Paul supporters point of view, he'a a persona non grata, since during this entire campaign season since Paul has announced his candidacy, the syllables "Ron Paul" has not crossed his lips, at least not while he's on the air.

Fox News is The Neo-Cons' Bi- er... Mouthpiece!

Really, Now... You are absolutely correct. If the FCC weren't owned and operated by the same people who give Fox News their marching orders, I'd be calling for a hefty fine. But in reality, they are (once again) shooting themselves in the foot.

The American people may be ignorant of the facts because they are withheld from them, but they are not stupid. They know a con job when they see one. From the way Ron Paul has been treated and marginalized at the debates, to the ambush 'journalism' thrown at him on every FOX News appearance, it is obvious to everyone except the guy mixing the Neo-Con Kool-Aid that FOX News is Intellectually, Morally and Journalistically bankrupt. But this 'ignore, marginalize then smear and exclude' strategy they have practiced toward Ron Paul has done more to wake people up to Dr. Paul's message than ever before.

Canvassing in my local precinct here in Michigan (among Registered Republicans), after I talk with people and give them campaign literature, those who haven't heard about Ron Paul are enthusiastically asking me for more information to give to friends, family and neighbors! Those that HAVE heard of them invariably say they were drawn to support him by the way he was being treated by the media, which they to a person say they despise and have no respect for. And let me be clear about this important fact- among these Registered Republicans, I am getting about a 90% approval rating for Ron Paul. I realize this is anecdotal, but considering the antiquated and skewed way telephone polls are conducted, can my findings be called any less representative of people's opinion than the allegedly 'scientific' polls, many of who don't even give Ron Paul as an option?

So I say, 'Thank You FOX NEWS!!!' You are the best campaign booster a candidate could hope for! People disrespect and don't trust you so much, that when you attack a candidate, people KNOW that he must be on to something! Let's have a nice. peaceful rally outside the FAUX 'Roundtable' to show the network, the voters of New Hampshire and America how much support, class an sense of fair play the ROn Paul rEVOLution has- especially when compared to a Propaganda Mouthpiece like FOX NEWS!

You know what ...

Ron Paul might not be all that I would want in a candidate, and when you get right down to it, who is? I don't care. We all know that it is the ones they're trying to silence we should be listening to. When it is so obvious of what FOX is doing, we also know it will backfire on them. This is going to drive the Ron Paul phenomenon into overdrive.

If Ron Paul is this much of a threat to the establishment that they would completely cut him out of the debates - as they did with Kucinich - I would be looking at staying off small planes and thinking bus.

And if any one thinks I'm paranoid saying this you know nothing of (very recent) history.

To me it's always been bad. I couldn't believe Nixon, and for a very brief moment after him things got better, but then came the onslaught of Milton Freeman and his disciples Reagan, Carter, Bush, Clinton, Bush (and soon to be another Clinton) and after each and everyone I watched in awe as they dismantled everything good and replaced it with everything abhorrent.

For this isn't the first time they've crushed the voices of reason and truth. Hardly. They do that 24/7/365. And when I refer to "they", I hope I don't have to go through the list of usual suspects who's name keep popping-up every time there's money to be made, more often then not from killing people.

If this does nothing else I hope this blatant censorship of those that speak closer to the people than the so-called front-runners do, get more attention, then good. Because love him, hate him, I don't care, if the number of people that Ron Paul has convinced he's their man are as evident as it appears, well, I don't care if he's a reincarnation of Hitler, he should have a place in the debates. Period.

We're either a representative government or not.

And if we're going to go all out - put the Green Party, Libertarian Party, Communist Party and any other damn Party out there that there is and let us make up our own damn minds.

Absolutely correct, It shouldn't matter who you like, but you should wonder why Fox is doing this. Why would they be so afraid of Paul if, as almost all the pundits claim, Ron Paul has no chance"? It is true that support is growing and this action should be publicized far and wide. This is the true FAUX and Exposes Murdoch as to what he truly is. Youe are correct, he is not alone, Time Warner, NBC and the others are all in it as well, but at least AOL is still reporting their straw poll with Paul winning it as of today. Faux would have probably pulled it by now. We should look and contact the advertisers on fox and tell them we will not buy their products if they keep advertising on Fox. That will hurt FAUX more than not watching them. I'm going to get on that right away.
