On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the War In Iraq...some thoughts: It has been four long, bloody, expensive, murdering years...with still no reason "WHY?"!
Even now..now that there has been substantial evidence that the President, the Vice President, and other high-ranking members of the Bush administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war with Iraq... and misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for said war...
...that there were no WMD's...no poison gas...no ties to Al Qaeda and to 9-11...
....the burning question ... that everybody, including you!, seems to be deliberately avoiding... remains: Why?!
WHY?!
Why did the Bush Administration lie to us?!
Why did the Bush Administration invade Iraq?! Why did we sacrifice all of those innocent lives?!
Here's the answer "WHY??"
Back in 1997, a political action group was formed by Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Chaney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, John Bolton, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, et al ... with publicly stated plans to "Democratize" the Middle East ( Translation: to get rid of the Sheiks and the Dictators and "privatize" their oil fields, which the Sheiks and Dictators had "nationalized" in the '70's, throwing out "Big Oil" {The American Oil Companies} and their ownership of those fields, and forming OPEC ).
The political action group's goal was to change those Middle East regimes under the pretext of "Democratizing" their countries so that "Big Oil" could once again attain ownership of their oil fields and their oil. The group was a "front" for America's "Big Oil"!
The group was called:
"Project For A New American Century"
Many of its original founders are currently (or were) high-placed, decision-making, influential members of the Bush Administration!
...see exactly who its original founders were...and read their "Statement of Principles"! Peruse their site...
And learn about their veiled plans to destroy OPEC for "Big Oil."
"Why" is an easy question to answer: Fear, Pride and Greed.
The delusional fear that Saddam was "evil" and must be killed, and that he might be part of the 9/11 conspiracy, the pride that America knows best and can do nothing wrong, and the greed that oil profits and a country rebuilding after years of sanctions offer to western nations to profit from.
The great three-headed beast of folly: fear, pride and greed knows no limits of party, time, or culture.

I have no patience with anyone that supported this war with the phony excuses given. Anyone that couldn't see through the bullshit has either had their head so far up their ass they can't see day-light or is complicit in this murderous scheme.
I keep reminding myself of a letter to the editor I once read from a self professed soccer-mom who said it all. She said even with three children, a job, and all that it takes to hold a family together even she knew there were serious doubts about WMD's and connection to 9/11.
I've said this before - anything that doesn't get us out of Iraq ASAP, after which we indict and imprison those responsible for this carnage and pledge to repair the damage done and then get on our knees and beg forgiveness to the world for being so FUCKING STUPID is frankly unacceptable.

Essentially, the war is a product of capitalism itself. Yes,
at a certain level you could say it was Bush, or PNAC, oil, or pride & greed, etc.
But at a deeper level, capitalism itself leads to concentration of wealth & power into ever fewer hands, which eventually produces a ruling oligarchy, whose discrete elements function as allies. In effect, today, both US parties, the Pentagon, the great corporations, & the media are all united in what amounts to a ruling class conspiracy against the US population & most of the rest of the world.
This doesn't mean there aren't sometimes significant disputes among ruling class members. But on balance, they all find themselves obliged to work things out & function as a fairly unified force.
The above article mentions the lies the Bush admin used to justify going to war. Note that the media was 99% cooperative in helping to pull off this deception. And even the tiny extent to which they were not slavishly cooperative -- even this accomplished a required objective. In effect, this helped to sustain the public's illusion that the US press is an "independent" institution which in some sense "seeks the truth" and tries to be a "watchdog on government." To this day, even many people horrified by Bush say things like, "When will the press wake up?", as though expecting the press to function like something it's not.
The capitalist press is not a "watchdog." It's a central ruling-class element, which is compelled to posture as a "watchdog" & objective seeker of truth, while actually supporting the ruling class consensus.
This kind of analysis applies to all major ruling class elements -- the military, the corporations, Wall St, the Democrats, the judiciary -- everything. That's why we see the Democrats giving Bush $100 billion to continue the war on Friday, while the press calls it a measure "to begin ending the war." They're all functioning in a highly coordinated fashion to achieve consensus ruling class goals. The big goal is securing US domination of the oil regions, not for the oil itself, but for control of it, which equates to holding the world by the balls.

Everybody complains, but as long as regular citizens cannot bring articles of impeachment to the President, there is nothing we can do. The Democrats should have done it but they won't. In other words we ae=re screwed. On one side we have criminals. On the other side is an opposition party that just wants to get paid for doing nothing. We have no hope.

Its finding the strength, courage, unity, finances, etc....to get it done. Its taking the time. Its not blogging on the internet. Problems is, the American People have been to softened. Complaining usually accomplishes nothing.
