UNCOUNTED PREMIERES TO SELLOUT CROWD IN NASHVILLE

Planning Nationwide Tour in Partnership with Local Election Integrity Groups

NASHVILLE, TN (November 12, 2007) – UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections premiered last night to a sellout crowd of nearly 400 at the historic Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee. The film’s producers are making immediate plans to book a return engagement at the Belcourt and are planning similar events across the country.

UNCOUNTED documents in startling and factual ways how the illegal and unethical tactics used to steal elections in recent years threaten the rights of voters in the upcoming 2008 presidential election.

The event was sponsored by Common Cause of Tennessee and Gathering To Save Our Democracy – two local groups lobbying the state of Tennessee to get rid of paperless electronic voting machines in the state. Both groups were ecstatic about the response to the UNCOUNTED premiere.

"We were delighted we attracted this many people to our event on a Monday night," said Gathering to Save Our Democracy spokesperson, Thelma Kidd. "Now, more people than ever know about the work we are doing – and why paperless electronic voting machines are a problem for our state."

The film had a follow-up panel discussion that featured members from Gathering to Save Our Democracy.

"Most of the audience stayed for the panel discussion that followed the film – and it was a lively and informative discussion," said Kidd. "I think UNCOUNTED explains the issue in a way that helps people understand why protecting our vote is so critical. By the end of the night, people were coming up to me asking, "What can I do to help?’ "

UNCOUNTED producer/director, David Earnhardt, is forming partnerships with election integrity groups across the country, inviting them to sponsor screenings with follow-up panel discussions in their cities as a way to bring focus and attract new people to the issues they are fighting for.

"There are hundreds of election integrity groups, most of them formed since the 2004 election, doing amazing work fighting for fair elections," said Earnhardt. "But it is so difficult for most of them to attract large numbers of people to their cause. It’s not an easy issue to explain. Our film offers a way for grassroots groups to reach new people in their communities."

Earnhardt said he is encouraging local election integrity groups to sponsor screenings when interest in elections is high – during the upcoming state presidential primaries, most of which will be held in January and February 2008. On February 5 alone, 24 states are having their presidential primaries– the most ever on a single day.

"We hope to go to all 50 states with our film during the next twelve months," said Earnhardt. "The stakes have never been higher for us to repair our election system as quickly as possible before the 2008 Election."
