An Open Letter to President Bush

Mr. President,

First let me say I am a veteran of twenty-two years in the USAF and I served overseas including Southeast Asia during the Vietnam era.  I am also the stepfather of an active soldier who served one tour in the war zone.

I am asking you to resign as president since you have led (through misleading statements and outright lies) America into a never-ending war in Iraq against mainly Iraqis who do not want to be occupied by a foreign country intent on stealing their natural resources (oil).

The occupation of Iraq makes America more of a target for the terrorists that you so greatly fear.  Your foreign policy has created more terrorists who hate America by fulfilling Middle Eastern fears that America wants to steal the oil resources from their countries. I believe you are afraid to stand in front of a group of Americans who are not military or part of right-wing PACs when you give your war mongering speeches.

Your comparison of the occupation of Iraq by American forces to the Revolutionary War is correct except, in this war, America is playing the part of the British with its own King George. You bring dishonor to the country and the memory of our forefathers who fought for civil rights and freedoms which your administration continues to infringe and take away.  I can’t imagine Thomas Jefferson condoning maintaining intelligence databases on American citizens who speak out against the tyranny of your administration.

You and your master, Vice President Cheney, believe you are above the law as demonstrated through your use of executive privilege to hide records of how you fired U.S. attorneys based on their political views and to commute the sentence of a convicted criminal, Scooter Libby, on the vice president’s staff.

Your Vice President believes he is a fourth level of government not defined by the U.S. Constitution.  The arrogance of your administration is truly amazing.  You take away the rights of Americans and give more super rights to those in your administration.  You keep moving closer and closer to turning America into a fascist state ruled by a dictatorial oligarchy. Therefore, for the good of the country I ask that you and Vice President Cheney remove yourselves from the office that neither of you deserve.

I am currently a public employee in Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas) and a retired Signals Intelligence Analyst for the USAF. I am a union activist and officer in SEIU Local 1107, Las Vegas.

I am actively involved in the anti war/occupation movement in Las Vegas and have been an organizer for Las Vegas Out of Iraq Coalition, Nevada Workers Against the War, and Las Vegas Peace Now.  I am also a member of Veterans for Peace.

I am a steward and trustee in my union's local SEIU Local 1107 and strongly support the organizing concepts of the Change to Win Labor Federation to organize the unorganized workers.

Now I am a campaign worker for Dennis Kucinich with Core Kucinich Nevada as I believe Dennis is the only candidate with progressive ideas with his HR1234 plan to end the occupation of Iraq and the Conyers/Kucinich HR676 bill for a single payer not for profit health care system.

I am a 50 year old father of three. My father is a Korean War Veteran who was awarded a purple heart for the sacrifices he made. I remember the day JFK was killed, The Fab Four, MLK and the original peace movement. I am from a different era and I miss the innocent maybe even naiive feelings of being PROUD to be American.

You are a great American patriot.

Hello,
My father served in the USAF and fought in the Korean war where he sustained near death injuries and lost his left arm to Preserve American Freedoms. He was awarded the Purple Heart and went on to eventually serve as National Commander of that great institution. Needless to say I have great respect for the men and women who serve in the armed forces.
It's a shame that our government has been hijacked by various multi-national corporations. The military-industrial complex is a vast war machine which has no interst in the American people. They have the Washaington politicians and lamestrem media in their pockets.
Thank-you for making your opinion known to Bush. As you know he doesn't give a damn about what you think. It's a sad day in America and the world. I remember a time when I was so proud to say, We are the greatest. Sadly, I am not feeling to good about what's happening in Washington and the direction this (neo-con) administration has taken us. It's a disgrace!
Anyway, I feel great pride and courage when I hear from patriots like you. Thank-you.

Kucinich 2008!
treehuggerKucinich 2008!

right on!

Your letter was heart-felt and a good read.  I wonder if newspapers will print it?

I am so happy to read that you support Dennis Kucinich for President--I am with you on that.  Please keep telling everyone that with Kucinich we get integrity, accountability, health care and education for all, out of Iraq, and a peaceful, more sane world!

I am a retired opera singer. I was a leading soprano with the New York City Opera for ten years. I am a strong supporter of Dennis Kucinich and worked for his campaign in 2004. I believe that he is the ONLY honest man in congress. He has been working against this insane war since before it began. I am 72 years old and I have been so frustrated with the media, the Congress and the American people that they don't tell the truth.

Thank you for telling the truth

I heartily agree with what you say. I spend hours every day writing letters, emails and signing petitions for the impeachment of Bush and CHeney. It's work that I feel compelled to do because we can't sit still and just let the country go down the toilet without a struggle. It seems that Congress isn't listening. I write to all of my legislators that nobody gets a dime in donations until three things happen: No more war; we have a national health care plan that covers every person in the country and Bush and CHeney must be impeached.
I particularly like it when they have to pay the postage on my returned letters.
It's great that you support Dennis Kucinich. Me too. He's the only honest person in Congress. He has the answers to all of our problems. Now if we could only get the media whores to listen to him and pay attention.
