The Department of Veterans Affairs, May 2007, Gulf War Veterans Information System reports the following:
– Deaths amongst Deployed: 17,847
– Deaths amongst Non-Deployed: 55,999
Total number of disability claims filed: 1,620,906
- Disability Claims amongst Deployed: 407,911
- Disability Claims amongst Non-Deployed: 1,212,995
-Source: http://www1.va.gov/rac-gwvi/docs/GWVIS_May2007.pdf
NOTE: Soldiers, by nature, typically don’t complain. In other words, the real impact of those who are disabled from the US invasions in Iraq, Afghanistan and other Nations, is not fully reflected in the official Veterans Affairs numbers. When soldiers are sent to murder women and children they tend to never be able to live normal lives there after.
How come the government numbers of 3,777 as of 9/7/7 are so low? The answer is simple, the government does not want the 73,000 dead to be compared to the 55,000 U.S. soldiers killed in Vietnam Iraq = Vietnam. What the government is doing is only counting the soldiers that die in action before they can get them into a helicopter or ambulance. Any soldier who is shot but they get into a helicopter before he dies is not counted.
73,000 dead amongst the U.S. soldiers for this scale operation using weapons of mass destruction is not high - we expect the great majority of U.S. soldiers who took part in the invasion of Iraq to die of uranium poisoning, which can take decades to kill.
From a victors perspective, above any major war in history, The Gulf War has taken the severest toll on soldiers.
More than 1,820 tons of radio active nuclear waste uranium were exploded into Iraq alone in the form of armor piercing rounds and bunker busters, representing the worlds worst man made ecological disaster ever. 64 kg of uranium were used in the Hiroshima bomb. The U.S. Iraq Nuclear Holocaust represents far more than fourteen thousand Hiroshima’s. The nuclear waste the U.S. has exploded into the Middle East will continue killing for billions of years and can wipe out more than a third of life on earth. Gulf War Veterans who have ingested the uranium will continue to die off over a number of years.
So far more than one million people have been slaughtered in the illegal invasion of Iraqi by the U.S. Birth defects are up 600% in Iraq – the same will apply to U.S. Veterans.
Statistics and evidence published by the government and mainstream media in no way reflect the extreme gravity of the situation.
Those working for the government and media must wake up and take responsibility for immediately reversing this U.S. Holocaust. Understanding who is manipulating all of us is critical for all of us.

Villainy
And we continue to tolerate the vermin who can devise and put the wicked use of these weapons into practice? - And for profit? Instead of allowing their continued infliction to eliminate millions, on into the future, humanity should extirpate this rogue element from our midst. Without delay, and without compunction. by Geraldo (1 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 105 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 22, 2007 at 1:51:45 PM

The Biggest Problem
The biggest problem for the left is a tendency to exaggerate or misrepresent fact. It gives the right an excuse to attack anything threatening their ill-gotten cash flow. The following are two examples of where the neo-con goons could attack this report. by GitarChris (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 142 comments) on Saturday, Sep 22, 2007 at 1:59:56 PM

Reply: The numbers we are seeing are only part of the story
73 thousand dead is an official number we can quote from the Department of Veterans Affairs. However, in reality millions are already dead from this illegal and outrageous invasion of a nation where the U.S. has no business. Little Boy, the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, contained 64 kg of uranium, of which 0.7 kg underwent nuclear fission, and of this mass only 0.6 g became energy. I agree it is important to avoid any controversial issues so as to focus on the key element which is the illegal use of Weapons of Mass Destruction by the U.S. in the illegal invasion of Iraq. Truly, the amount of nuclear waste exploded into Iraq, Afghanistan and other nations by the U.S. is of such an extraordinary high quantity that all of us in the U.S. have been made legally libel for the world’s worst ecological disaster. This amount of uranium exploded into the environment is an extraordinary crime. We will modify our pages on Liberty For Life to avoid this sort of controversy. Thank you. Do not be mistaken the different isotopes of uranium are just as deadly. Depleted uranium is about 60% less radioactive than Enriched uranium both can be used to make atomic bombs. We absolutely have to challenge the government and mainstream media on why they are not telling the public the truth. We strongly recommend making issue regarding the indisputable fact that the Federal Reserve Bank is private and has been the main cause of instability in our economy and world. When Hussein stopped selling oil in Fed Notes we went to war because the private share holders in the Federal Reserve Bank immediately started loosing billions of dollars. They feared other oil producers would follow suit. Includes BOTH Gulf Wars
That was not at all clear until I checked a part of the pdf document. Perhaps if I wend my way through more of it, I will be able to understand the non-deployed statistics. Mind you, this does NOT include the impact on the Brits, or the French of the first Gulf War. This 36% disabled represents those who were healthy men and women who are mostly in their twenties, thirties and forties now. What a drain on our nation. What a loss for our economy. Of course, there's no mention of the women sickened through sexual contact with returning men or children born disabled. That DU is wicked. by Pat Williams (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 84 comments) on Saturday, Sep 22, 2007 at 6:37:45 PM

Right... The article should have made it immediately obvious that these figures start from 1990 which would include BOTH Gulf Wars. What is worse?
The worst part is the evil genius of product names. Depleted Uranium, is not at all depleted, as I am sure you all know, it has a half-life of 4.5 billion years, roughly the life so far of our planet. (whoops, sorry Fundamentalists, forgot the world is only 4400 years old) I have heard NOTHING from the cowardly democrats about banning the use of this almost immortal menace. They are as insane as the Bushites. There are no Shiny Silver Clad Knights in congress, except perhaps Mr. Kucinich who has zero chance of getting elected-he has about as much chance getting elected as Jesus might have. While on am on the Subject of Rabbi Yeshua-Jesus, I venture that if he ran for office, Blackwater CEO/Founder, Erik Prince (Conservative "Christian", which phrase is an anomally, Jesus was to Conservative Rome and Conservative Hedoridian Priests and Kind, the Most Liberal of the Prophets), Bauer, Reid, The dead Falwell, Robertson, the pope and a number of Rabbi's and Mullah and ministers would never vote for him. They would, as Dostoyefsky predicted, oh so accurately, in The Brothers Karamazov, crucify him again. Hypocracy is the the key word, always was, always is, always will be about the money, and power and sadism with impunity. Ordering and watching Torture, rape and mass murder, is the only thing that allows them to get it up, and counting the trillions they've stolen and the bodies they have raped and tortured and murdered, will not stifle their rage at being born. I wonder from what kind of families these monsters emerged? Geeps! What am I saying? We know from whence they came! Deep, down South where the Sun doesn't shine but t is hooter than that Orb by a factor of at least 10 x 10 x 10. by Professor Emeritus Peter Bagnolo (144 articles, 1 quicklinks, 95 diaries, 1317 comments [5 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Saturday, Sep 22, 2007 at 10:12:56 PM

Reply: Soldiers bringing back death to their loved ones.
You are correct. The uranium particles have a tendency to cling to clothing. When wives wash their husbands clothes when they return from Iraq they often also contract uranium poisoning. The uranium is also very effectively transferred through semen. A heart wrenching article on our site written by a woman who contracted uranium poisoning from her dad, exposes the true nature of uranium: http://www.libertyforlife.com/military-war/uranium_exposed_veterans_daugher.htm this story will be repeated over and over again by our service men and women and their families. Even soldiers sitting on the ammunition are getting retinal cancer. But what about the people left living in Iraq? It is time our military did something useful and arrest these criminals who sent them there in the first place. The evil nature of our administration is astonishing. Thanks for mentioning the du coming back to the States
as I came here specifically to mention that as Lauren Moret has brought that up for a NUMBER of years; this is not recent information. I posted an item a few months back on my blog about Canada being complicit in its use in Afghanistan. This is a Canadian national DISGRACE. Don't EVER talk to me about Canadian peacemaking again while I can draw breath. Canisters containing du where found on Algonquin territory at the time of the Days of Action here in Ontario marked "Lebanon". This and the encroachment of Frontenac Ventures has led to another great Canadian standoff between federales, provincialistas and NDNS and local supporters. NOw, it's spreading .. Greenpeace and others have joined the fight. What does THAT Have to do with war dead: if anyone is expert on du, its natives and they put a disporportionate number of people in the Armed Forces. This makes their antinuke protests more a living breathing force. It's just one MORE way genocide is achieved here in America, here in Canada (no we are not in the coalition but there are certainly Garda mercenaries over there from here.) We have had NO idea how many deaths this war (and Afghanistan nor Lebanon nor ...) generating although I have asked those I thought would know REPEATEDLY about this for over three years. "WHO IS KEEPING count of those who die in Germany? Those who die after getting back to the US?" I would ask. Even those around Cindy Sheehan were really not keeping aware of the stats as they grew. We have no idea how many mercenaries are dieing, or what percentage or anything. Whether we like mercenaries or NOT, they are people and all have families, even if they are highly misguided. It does no good to minimize the disaster in this entire fiasco; eventually the truth will out. And thanx Clive, this is winging its way around the blogosphere ... it's time people got a healthy injection of REALISM. I posted Tom Englehardt's stats on the Iraqi and it drew nary a comment. It's all an OUTRAGE!! that in 2007 this is going on. The killing must stop!! by ladybroadoak (39 articles, 20 quicklinks, 12 diaries, 394 comments) on Monday, Sep 24, 2007 at 7:21:03 AM

Surely the author of this story could read.
The DVA numbers quoted in this article do NOT reflect the numbers given in the report referenced. First off the Report includes ALL veterans active duty and reserves from 1990 until present. Total Theater deaths during this time reported are 4,330 Total Deployed deaths ( meaning deployed ANYWHERE) 17, 847 Total deaths for the era ( meaning ANY death of a veteran who served at any time from 1990 until the present even if they were out of the service at the time of death) is 55, 999. http://www1.va.gov/rac-gwvi/docs/GWVIS_May2007.pdf I am as opposed to this war as anyone. I believe we have no business being there and we need to bring our troops home ASAP. BUT spreading this type of propaganda takes away from the credibility of people who oppose this war. by Chris Keisker (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 1 comments) on Monday, Sep 24, 2007 at 3:23:22 PM

Reply: Real Numbers
Bob, as GitarChris correctly pointed out the actual number of Vietnam veterans who died as a consequence of that absurd war, were far in excess of the official 55 thousand the government listed. Most of the Gulf War Vets are dieing from radiation poisoning, we have earlier reports listing 21 thousand dead from doctors studying the problem (see http://www.libertyforlife.com/military-war/wmd.html) Our government is refusing to acknowledge the problem or the real numbers. For example what exactly is Undiagnosed Illness “UDX”? Vets serving in 1990 are not going to be dead from old age by 2007. Because the government is hiding the truth, the Dept of Veteran’s affairs total number of dead Gulf War vets is the only real number from which we can really determine how many soldiers have died. One could perhaps assume that 10% or less of the 73K total died from natural causes. Would one list the massive increase of suicides by soldiers, as natural or as a cause of the illegal invasion? Read Timothy V. Gatto’s comment. It is good to see discussion and questioning of numbers. These are Official Numbers and they are real, just as real as the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan and other sovereign nations is not different to Hitler’s invasion of Poland and other sovereign nations. The reality is the gravity of the situation, something clearly the government is desperate to cover-up, just like they covered up their explicit involvement in perpetrating 9/11. We strongly encourage you and others to learn about the ties between supporters of Hitler and our current administration and Federal Reserve Bank. Until we acknowledge the incest and gravity of the situation we cannot hope to fix the problem. We have a serious problem, raw facts prove our government is utterly out of control. Former Attorney General Gonzales should for example be going to jail. He certainly would send you to jail for much less than the crimes he was caught in. Bush’s new appointee for Attorney General, Michael B. Murkasey, was cover-up Chief of the Official Corruption Unit of the Attorney General's office and Yale Bones Club Satan worshiper who gave billions of dollars to the people who blew up the World Trade Center! And mainstream media is praising him for being just and honest! These Dept of Vet’s Affairs number help drive through reality, however, in all reality we need to get these criminals out of government. A Complete Hoax
In response to the poster who said these lies/hoaxes come from the left, this story seems to have originated from Hal Turner who lists his show as follows: The Hal Turner Show: News & Commentary For Straight, White People. 73,000 Dead U.S. Troops In Iraq Story a Complete Hoax Paul Joseph Watson All but the most naive would accept that U.S. casualty figues in Iraq, both dead and injured, are being deliberately underreported, but a story circulating that 73,000 have died is a complete hoax and its advocates are disseminating harmful disinformation. The worst of the bunch is probably this website, which claims that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a report "confirming 73,000 U.S. troops killed in Iraq." If you actually read the report it becomes clear that the figure represents how many veterans, whether retired or active duty, have died since the first Gulf War in 1990 - from any cause and not solely as a result of fighting in Iraq. The figure is merely a rough head count of how many veterans are still living compared to those that have died since 1990. by magginkat (2 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 21 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Friday, Sep 28, 2007 at 6:09:39 PM
