The current economic crisis has created chaos and uncertainty that gives an opportunity for real change.  The voters are very unhappy, angry, looking for some way to turn the country around.

The next president, be it Obama or McCain, will be a warmonger.  The next president will continue to expand the military budget and prosecute the "war on terror", be it in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or elsewhere.

The US economy runs on the military budget.  Making and using up war materiel is the most efficient way to make a profit.   The war on terror is endless, there is little oversight on military contracts, and the products need constant replacement.  You can't recycle bombs and bullets.  Missile defense is another boondoggle.

Both Democrats and Republicans depend on war contractors to fund their electoral campaigns, and to provide them with perks while in office.  It becomes a way of life.  The two major parties are wedded to the war machine, and will continue to expand the US defense budget.

The only way to break the system is to get Greens and other third party candidates into Congress.  Peace and Freedom candidates, independents like Cindy Sheehan, Ron Paul Libertarians all are anti-war, all understand that war profits no one but the war profiteers.  Unfortunately, they are the ones calling the shots.

The planet cannot afford war- it's been obsolete since the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Radioactivity from "depleted" uranium weaponry is slowly destroying the planetary gene pool.  Making, fueling, and discharging weapons of all sorts, from bullets to daisy cutters, adds greatly to global warming.  Worst of all, countries are fighting instead of cooperating to solve global problems.

Greens and other third party patriots can serve as voices of truth in Congress.  If elected, we will not be beholden to corporations, the war lobby or the oil lobby.  We will be able to inform the voters of what really goes on behind the scenes, and propose legislation that will make real change- bring the troops home, stop the missile defense boondoggle, pare down the Pentagon budget.  We will provide a beachhead for We the People in Washington, DC, and start to restore representative democracy.

Now is our chance.  I urge all voters to check out your ballot, and see if there is a suitable Green or other third party Congressional candidate.  Let's get rid of the Bush/Pelosi crowd and put peacemakers in Congress, people who will steer us in the right direction, toward peace and cooperation with other nations.
