I would like you to think about this objectively; not as an American or a Republican or a veteran. Just look at the sequence of events over the past 7 1/2 years, the full term of the Bush Administration, as one would review any long term business model performance report. I want you to look at it and I want you to think about the term “savage capitalism“.
Think in terms of criminal investigations; of motive and opportunity. Right now you see part of the picture but I want us to look at it all like you would a business plan; with an unflinching indifference to “party” or nation. Just to look at the evidence as if you were a reporter, unaffected by by who owns the paper.
If the media won’t tell us these things, we are forced to tell each other, before they are lost to the revisionists history.
Before George Bush decided to run for the White House he was put in touch with an old friend of his father George H. W. Bush, George P. Shultz. Even though Shultz’ early connections with with the Bush administration has been carefully concealed, even scrubbed out of the record on Wikipedia, there are still the lingering tidbits of reports dating back to the time before the media went black.
Back in early 1998, Bush met with advisers and future cabinet members in Shultz’ home. There, some of the earliest policies of this criminal administration were set into motion; hammered out were the next 8 years of our lives, by the boy king and the likes of Shultz and Condi Rice.
It was then that the group known as The Vulcans were born. This was Bush’s foreign policy team. Led by Rice herself, it also included Richard Armitage, Robert Blackwill, Stephen Hadley, Richard Perle, Dov S. Zakheim, Robert Zoellick and Paul Wolfowitz. A serious list of American Enterprise Institute neocons, and all members of the Project for the New Amerian Century. Cheney and Shultz himself would later sit in on many of the Vulcan meetings. Cheney’s wife Lynne was a member of AEI at the time.
Around the same time, members of the PNAC would draft a letter to Bill Clinton, then President of the United States, urging him to preemptively strike Iraq in order to affect regime change under the guise of looking for weapons of mass destruction. Three of the Vulcans signed that letter. Bill obviously refused and the Vulcans continued to plan.
It is important to note some of the key business interests for these players now.
We all know that Cheney’s company, the one he used his connections from his previous stint in the White House to secure, Halliburton, did very well over the past 8 years of the Bush administration. Their no-bid cost-plus contracts saved the company at a time when they were reeling from asbestos lawsuits in 2000. This administration saved Halliburton. So much so, that they pulled up stakes and fled to the UAE, just in case things don’t go so smoothly after Cheney leaves office.
Rice also had ties that bind. She was such a key player at Chevron, they named a tanker after her. They must have liked her a great deal. They renamed the tanker after the invasion of Iraq. i guess they didn’t want a tanker of theirs pulling up to port with an administration members name printed on the side. It would look to good, I suppose.
And then there was Shultz. Were do you start with George P. Shultz?
First of all, he was president and director of Bechtel Group, a company that enjoyed huge no-bid cost plus contracts through out most of the War with Iraq. Like Halliburton, their stock rose considerably the day we invaded Iraq. But Bechtel has also made great sums of money with the government’s support for many years through privatization schemes in Central and South America. In one case in Bolivia, Bechtel even tried through a water privatization plan, to demand property rights on the rain as it fell from the sky.
You see privatization and Shultz go way back; that’s why he loves Cheney. Cheney is from that school of thought; that every dime of taxpayers money the government spends is a profit waiting to happen for some well represented businessman. And Shultz is very well represented.
But he also represents. He serves just like the rest and it is who he serves that this article is really about because all the rest are merely trinkets in payoffs and graft. The real prizes are still waiting.
But today is nearly payday.
