What is more difficult to see is what happens to a species when they hire bodyguards to protect them.

The species looses the ability to protect itself.

8 years after 911 no one from the FBI ,CIA, Military , US Government has been arrested. Same with the Kennedy assassination, Martin Luther King assassination, 1st World Trade Center bombing, Oklahoma City bombing.

Persevere, compadre, it's beginning to work.  The next phase begins after the inaugural euphoria is transmuted into the awareness of what the promised "change" actually means, what it does to people.

You're right in your thinking Rafe.

I get a sense of more and more people who have had all they can take. I've been in this state of mind for over 40 years and for that time I've been a joke. Now, all those who were laughing, (who once had jobs) aren't. The problem now, I think, is that so many are turning toward violent solutions which I now don't believe will solve anything. We can't physically harm the people who count and we'll just get a lot of our people hurt.

I don't have a lot of answers but it would seem that if you want to hurt people who love power more than anything and money is their power then hit them in the bank account. I personally have stopped buying anything Chinese, for starters. They don't make anything which we need, just a bunch of junk we want.  I also don't frequent Wal Mart or any of the large conglomerates without checking out the company as to how they pay and treat employees. I try to use small local business whenever I can.

I don't know how much this hurts but if it spreads I imagine it would do some damage.

Hopefully, someone who's smarter than I will stand up but we're not going anywhere without some sort of fight and a great deal of sacrifice.

 I was asked by some of my friends why do I want to know what,s going on if I can not prove it or change it. I have no answer exept that I want the truth from the people who say we cannot handel the truth. I knew on 9/11 that it was not some identifiable terroist who flew into the Towers. I saw the hands of the Cheneys and the Roves all over it.They got their Pearl Harbor event.We must never forget and we need to prosecute them  if we can make our elected officials do their job  This is not about who to blame it is about Justice. History demands it!

Americans seem to have drawn three separate and conflicting lessons from 9/11, depending on their ideological views.

1) 9/11 convinced the Republicans that we were involved in a war on terror that requires we cease being a republic.  This led to the botched fascist takeover known as the Bush II Administration. (If you don't know Bush II was a bothced fascist takeover, I refer you to Naomi Wolfe's The End of America.)

2) 9/11 convinced conspiracy theorists (and many other independents, such as libertarians) that the ruling elite is making its move and our freedom is at risk.  This is clearly the consensus of most commenters here.  My problem with these folks is that no two of them agree with one another about the nature of the conspiracy or the elite.

3) 9/11 convinced liberals (and other normal people) that our foreign policy blunders have made us bitter enemies, and that Republicans are incompetent.  I'm one of this third type, because it best explains the facts, while the first two views force one to ignore or explain away Bill Clinton's excellent record against terrorism.

If both parties were being run by an elite, their record against terorrism would be roughly the same.  But they're not. When Republicans couldn't prevent executive action, President Clinton:

-- Developed the nation's first anti-terrorism policy, and appointed first national coordinator.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up 12 U.S. jetliners simultaneously.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up UN Headquarters.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up FBI Headquarters.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up the Israeli Embassy in Washington.
--Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up Boston airport.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up Lincoln and Holland Tunnels in NY.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up the George Washington Bridge.
-- Stopped cold the planned attack to blow up the US Embassy in Albania.
-- Tried to kill Osama bin Laden and disrupt Al Qaeda through preemptive strikes (efforts denounced by the G.O.P.).
-- Brought perpetrators of first World Trade Center bombing and CIA killings to justice.
-- Did not blame Bush I administration for first World Trade Center bombing even though it occurred 38 days after they had left office. Instead, worked hard, even obsessively -- and successfully -- to stop future terrorist attacks.
-- Named the Hart-Rudman commission to report on nature of terrorist threats and major steps to be taken to combat terrorism.
-- Tripled the budget of the FBI for counterterrorism and doubled overall funding for counterterrorism.
-- Detected and destroyed cells of Al Qaeda in over 20 countries
-- Created a national stockpile of drugs and vaccines including 40 million doses of smallpox vaccine.
-- Robert Oakley, Reagan Counterterrorism Czar says of Clinton's efforts "Overall, I give them very high marks" and "The only major criticism I have is the obsession with Osama"
-- Paul Bremer, Bush's Administrator of Iraq disagrees slightly with Robert Oakley saying he believed the Clinton Administration had "correctly focused on bin Laden. "
-- Barton Gellman of the Washington Post put it best, "By any measure available, Clinton left office having given greater priority to terrorism than any president before him" and was the "first administration to undertake a systematic anti-terrorist effort."

Most proponents of the first two viewpoints simply ignore this stuff, for the obvious reason that Clinton's reocrd against terrorism does not fit into their paradigms. So they ignore the inconvenient facts--a strong indicator of delusional thinking.

Perry, I don't understand what you're basing that statement on. I've never encountered anyone who was deluded about the nature... ot the elite.

It's a bit obvious who is the "elite" or as I prefer, even though it sounds a bit "B Movie", the Establishment.

As far as your concept, you're basing your whole theory on the fact that Bill Clinton was a great president, something I would never dispute.

One thing I certainly won't dispute, that clip was creepy,,, and moronic.

Whether you refer to them as the Moriah, the Illuminati, the Club of Rome, the Bilderbergers, the Committee of 300, the moneychangers/international bankers or the Shadow Government (among others) the self-appointed, elitist overlords that manipulate our world and maneuver it's populations through the manufacture of events have not endorsed an all-encompassing moniker to describe themselves - so how could any of the variety of groups that are paying attention to their intrigues and the disasterous results formulate a meaningful consensus in giving them a name?

But names aside, the octapus is immense. It's tentacles pervade, pervert and infect the true halls of power, the control of money and mechanisms that design what we are allowed to know. To paraphrase an exerpt from John F Kennedy's warning to us all - and a demonstration of the mindset that likely led to his murder:

"... for we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence - on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. You are a highly enlightened individual.

Even when our leaders tell us the truth they know to be true and that leader is himself silenced for the world to see, they won't believe.

It's peoples own minds which prevent them from accepting the truth when the truth is too much to accept or, as my Dad used to say "They wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit them on the ass".

And don't waste your time with that video.

As a Brit living in Italy, I've been making myself unpopular telling my US friends about 911 truth and am astonished at the complete refusal to accept anything other than the 'official' conspiracy theory. I spoke to a NY friend who'd seen the towers fall from his apartment and when I mentioned that they were demolished his reply was 'You're kidding!'. I thought he was joking. Here is an educated man, a university teacher and democrat who actually experienced 911, and who hasn't even bothered to look at the evidence freely available on the internet. I am reminded of the supine German population during the 30's who were encouraged to scapegoat the jews in very much the same way the US now treats the arabs. (The Reichstag fire was an inside job!)

But your article has given me new hope that economic collapse will force America to confront the decaying corpse of the 911 elephant in their living room, although I'm fearful that the anger generated could spark civil war- the armaments you guys have accumulated is terrifying...
