In his words as recounted on his blog, "an Israeli police officer ran up, seized me, and dragged me to the other side of the street. He then punched me in the face, put me in a choke hold, and with four other officers, slammed me to the ground. I was eventually handcuffed and carried to the car; I allowed my body to go limp and refused to walk on my own in a gesture of nonviolent defiance. Throughout the whole affair, the only thing audible coming from the policemen was a constant stream of curse words -- 'motherf*cker,' 'piece of sh*t,' etc., which was to me a ringing confirmation of how infuriated and threatened they were by a 19-year old wearing a kippah and a keffiyeh standing with the Palestinians."
One would expect a massive outcry of indignation against Israel but it won't happen. This is not the first time Israel has insulted Americans, with full permission, rather, blessings, from lawmakers in Washington. A servile congress, full of itself, and replete with AIPAC funds for elections and re-elections, can hardly be expected to have the shame, dignity or self respect to stand up for American citizens.
After all, this is June. It was this same month in 1967 when Israeli forces attacked a defenseless American ship "The USS Liberty," killing 34 and injuring 174 servicemen, and to this day the U.S. Congress still has to acknowledge this crime or even to ask Tel Aviv for an explanation, let alone demand an apology.
In 2003, American college student Rachel Corrie was plowed over and crushed under by an Israeli army driver using a weaponized Caterpillar tractor known as D-9, gifted to Israel under the military aid program paid for by middle class U.S. taxpayers. Congress was silent then too.
Neither was there any objection raised when Brian Avery was shot in the face, his cheek torn and his eye socket and jaw bones smashed, or Tristan Anderson whose frontal lobe had to be partially removed when he was shot in the head with a teargas canister by the IDF. It appears the U.S. Congress continues to applaud Israel and its criminal leaders through any and all violations of international or human laws.
