Dennis Kucinich needs you. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) said he will not let impeachment die quietly in committee. He said Wendnesday that he'll bring his resolution back in 30 days if the Judiciary Committee doesn't act on it. Democratic House leaders have been fending off impeachment efforts since taking office. Saying they don't want to be bogged down in messy impeachment proceedings.
Kucinich also has a resolution to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, which has been bottled up in commitee since May 2007. The measure had 27 co-sponsors.
Kucinich's 35 article impeachment of Bush has no co-sponsors. Kucinich made the motion himself to send to send it to committee, saying "thirty days is a reasonable amount of time" of the debate on the floor.
Vowing "This one's coming back from the dead in 30 days".
In order to get involved, here are the five best steps to take now:
1. Click: Message to Judiciary Committee: IMPEACH BUSH— Contact information for all the members of the House Judiciary Committee from their own official webpage. Call or write and let them know that you want Bush impeached. Support Dennis Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment.
2. There will be ZERO mainstream media discussion of this. ZERO. So, we must BE OUR OWN MEDIA and promote it. Link to this site- www.Opednews.com from sites and blogs. Mention it with links in your comments on blogs. PROMOTE IT.
3. Join the Consumer Fast already underway. Click here: Shut'EmDown

4. Sign up with your email address HERE in order to get updates,We need to mobilize locally- & demand national action. Few of us could go to Washington, DC- but many of us- can go to our city halls or state legislatures- or local Congressional offices.

Judiciary committee
If the judiciary committee fail to act, their avoidance of responsibility will speak louder than any words they could place on record. Serious charges have been brought against the President of the United States. Such charges don't go away of their own accord. They have to be considered and dealt with. by Aurora (0 articles, 95 quicklinks, 52 diaries, 648 comments [5 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 10:01:03 AM

When Congress Is Silent We Must SHOUT

Make It Really Hurt
Impeach NOW or we do not vote for Obama or for any other Dem that does not publicly support Impeachment. Reply: I like this idea
You know, applying pressure. Saying that you won't vote for Obama and instead will stay home or vote McKinney or Nader. Make the Democrats know impeachment is costing them votes they need to beat the GOP's McCain---a candidate that will be besting Obama's "change" with an American message that can simply be described as "security." If we really want change, we know what to do. The question is-Do people have the guts to do it? Or will they become paralyzed by the so-called McGovern Fable propagated by Democratic leaders whenever populist uprisings gain too much power? (*Yeah, I'm in the middle of David Sirota's new book. Check it out. It's a good conversation-starter.) by Kevin Gosztola (302 articles, 146 quicklinks, 81 diaries, 1086 comments [77 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 11:54:45 AM

This needs to be built widely for it to work
September may be too late to prevent a war w/Iran but time will tell. The issue with congress ignoring Kucinich's impeachment resolutions have much more to do with the fact that they fear being indicted right along w/Bush. People say congress doesn't have a spine - no they do have a spine and they have continually shown it by acting strongly AGAINST the will of an angry populace, that takes spine. If your neighbor murders his wife and buries her in his backyard and finally the police show up to investigate and to arrest him - you'd be glad right? Justice would be served etc.. BUT if YOU helped him bury her you're not going to be very cooperative with the investigation now are you? This is why congress won't impeach - too many of them are accessories to Bush's long list of crimes. There is no other explanation. So, give congress an 'A' - A for Accomplices, Accessories, Aiding and Abetting, of course they're going to try and silence justice. by Cheryl Abraham (13 articles, 2 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 207 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 12:16:37 PM

Cheryl and All
Could not have worded it better myself. Of course, if you know as a neighbour and friend know that the guy next door helped bury his wife, after the other guy killed her, well that would make you an accomplice also. Right? In other words, if PDA refuses to hold them accountable then they are just as guilty as the others involved in the cover up. Gee, tough investigative journalism type questions. Some one has to do it. This really is a defining moment and issue, isn't it? by Michael Cavlan (15 articles, 0 quicklinks, 6 diaries, 538 comments [131 recommended, 2 rejected]) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 1:11:32 PM

just left a msg w/ Conyer's staff
he said the reason they're not doing impeachment is cuz they have only 2 mo. to recess; when asked why they didn't get started after 2006 when there was already massive evidence that we'd been lied into Iraq, torture, rendition, unlawful detention and illegal domestic spying were going on, he said he didn't know. Investigate Journalism Hat Back On
Mr David Swanson of PDA Mr Swanson, Do you have any comment on the charges of the Democratic Party leadership and it's complicity with the Bush Administration crimes? Can this explain their refusal to persue Impeachment and in fact to do everything in their power to block it? Is PDA and Move On now a part of this cover up? Mr Swanson can I get a comment from you or from your organization? Reply: Good God, (or Goddess)
Even Thom Hartmann is saying that impeachment would lose the election for Obama - really? Didn't the republicans win the next election after the impeachment of Clinton? Impeachment movement needs more people and groups
We need to get more groups like MoveON, PDA, Common Cause, People for the American way etc. actively fighting for and PUBLICISING impeachment. Here is a message I just sent to MoveOn: "Hello, Everyone needs to contact any and all of the above groups and demand they get involved. by Kevin McCaffery (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 18 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 3:18:54 PM

Update
PDA does have an action item at the top of their website for people to contact their Congressman to support impeachment. Now we need to get more groups involved. I have contacted MoveOn , Common Cause and PFAW. Contact these and other groups as soon as possible demanding they get involved. Kevin
Not to belabor the point too much BUT does PDA and it's Action Call include a call for accountability in regards to their own party? Is the call to action any different, in any way from the dozens of calls to actions, sign petitions, call your Congresspersons etc that we have had for the past four years? If not then what makes it different from the past four years? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting a different result. by Michael Cavlan (15 articles, 0 quicklinks, 6 diaries, 538 comments [131 recommended, 2 rejected]) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 4:29:49 PM

Reply: Insanity? Maybe not
MoveOn's main donation campaign right now is asking for money to run commercials comparing McCain to Bush. It is OUR JOB to convince them that NOW is the time to push for Impeachment and worry about McCain later in the election cycle. If we can get commercials on TV the American people will wake up.This should be our #1 goal right now. If enough people scream they have to listen don't they? I donate plenty of money to these groups and made it real clear that they can drop me from there list if they don't join this effort. If enough people do this they will have to join us. by Kevin McCaffery (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 18 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 6:22:15 PM

Impeachment of Bill, again? I think we should ask if he has given up cigars? This Bush guy seems like a nice chap. Let's get over it and support the change in government we all were looking for! by Wolfie (9 articles, 0 quicklinks, 33 diaries, 1208 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 5:47:42 PM

Great Ideas
We should all contact MoveOn, and any other organizations we belong to & tell them that impeachment is the number one issue in America right now. Without it change is meaningless. And we can not support candidates who do not support impeachment. Put the pressure on. Phone calls & letters will not be enough. We must get outside our rep.s homes July 3rd & 4th & demand impeachment. Kucinich will re-introduce in 30 days, will you be there to support. Without you this will go nowhere. Impeachment NEEDS YOU NOW. Contact e-alerts@votestrike.com & stay informed. by chris rice (111 articles, 147 quicklinks, 35 diaries, 233 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 7:38:08 PM

Spread the word
Votestrike.com is currently running ads at Google search, Facebook & Afterdowning street (out of our own pocket) for Impeachment. We do not accept or solicit donations. We are however very excited about the thought of TV spots to get the word out. That is currently out of our budget but if enough Opednews subscribers pulled together some cable spots should be within reason. Should MoveOn etc. not be receptive Votestrike.com would support this effort. However don't forget to support Opednews which stands up to the big bad neo cons & the phony democrats, everyday. by chris rice (111 articles, 147 quicklinks, 35 diaries, 233 comments) on Thursday, Jun 12, 2008 at 7:50:10 PM

Me Thinks
The constitution has already been suspended. Bush declared a state of emergency on 9/23/2001 and extended it on 9/20/2007. The NPSD-51 on 5/9/2007 authorizes the President to take over all of government functions and direct private sector activities. Congress is just taking orders at this point. by pft (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 601 comments [7 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Friday, Jun 13, 2008 at 3:29:37 AM
