Bernie Could Promise To Resign In January 2024 To Make His Female VP President
With Elizabeth Warren out of the 2020 Democratic primary race, the hope for a female president in 2020 is considered over, dead.
But there is a way that the election could absolutely produce the first female US president. Matter of fact, it is not that unlikely that if one candidate offers this that the other will too. The scenario looks like this:
Bernie (or Biden could do this) announces his running mate, and she's a female. He also announces that he promises to resign from office in January 2024, so his running mate will become the first female President of the United States. I believe that both of the septuarian candidates should do it for the sake of the women in the world who have been waiting for it to happen.
Resigning in January 2024 will set up the VP to run for re-election in the 2024 election, as the incumbent, which would give her an advantage.
Ideally, both candidates will do it and make the promise. My bet is that Biden picks Kamala Harris or Stacey Abrams. Bernie is iffier, but I'd bet on Nina Turner or Elizabeth Warren. Offering it to Warren may be the way he gets her to endorse.
