For OpEdNews: Rob Kall - Writer The New York Times Reports, Crisis Altering Wall Street as Big Banks Lose Top Talent, stating, "With financial institutions facing federal limits brought on after the bailouts, veteran bankers are leaving to join start-ups and foreign companies." The government has set salary limits on pay to top execs at the sinking ships in the roiling financial seas. The rats are responding by leaving the ships that they set on the path to the depths of Davey Jones' locker. I say draft the bastards. If the US, in its history, drafted young men in a time of urgent need, why shouldn't we draft the people who caused the problems?
You may argue that these are the losers who caused the problems and that is probably true. So put them in minor roles, giving advice their superiors will use to decide what not to do.
Draft them so the greedy, sinking ship rats don't infest healthy banks and so they don't start up new, creative operations that rip off the consumers, tax payers and the government in new ways.
I'm serious about this. If we draft them, we can pay them the going rate for military recruits. Let them lose their mansions and Mercedes. Let Mitch McCollum and John Bohner defend these miscreants and protest the drafting of them. Dick Cheney will probably chime in.
While we're at it, add Larry Summers to the draftee list, along with Alan Greenspan and Treasury secretary Geithner and the CEOs of all the banks we've bailed out. Might as well put them all under the same emergency draft program. Why should they still be pulling megasalaries at all? They are all collossal failures.
