Sixty seats picked up by the GOP in the House. At least six (maybe more) were picked up in the Senate. And, several other gubernatorial and state legislature races produced favorable ends for Republicans in states across the country. As Sarah Palin might say, voters "refudiated" Democrats on Election Day.

The Democrats could be grateful for the following victories: Chris Coons (DE), Barbara Mikulski (MD), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Joe Manchin (WV), Chuck Schumer (NY), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Mario Cuomo (NY), Barney Frank (MA), Joe Donnelly (IN), Deval Patrick (MA), Jared Polis (CO), Ron Wyden (OR), Jerry Brown (CA), Barbara Boxer (CA).

On the other hand, these notable Republican wins show voters were willing to go for Republicans instead of letting Democrats have two more years of majority control in Washington: Mike Pence (IN), Dan Burton (IN), Todd Rokita (IN), Dan Coats (IN), Mike Rogers (KY), Rand Paul (KY), Jim DeMint (SC), Rob Portman (OH), Marco Rubio (FL), John Boozman (AR), Patrick McHenry (NC), Sue Myrick (NC), Richard Burr (NC), Sandy Adams (FL), Johnny Isakson (GA), Tom Coburn (OK), Larry Bucshon (IN), Morgan Griffith (VA), Daniel Webster (FL), Jerry Moran (KS), John Thune (SD), Sam Brownback (KS), Rick Perry (TX), Roy Blunt (MO), David Vitter (LA), Bill Flores (TX), John McCain (AZ), Chuck Grassley (IA), Steve Womack (AR), Ron Johnson (WI), Mike Crapo (ID), Nikki Haley (SC), Tom Corbett (PA), Joe Wilson (SC), Pat Toomey (PA).

Republicans picked up the Senate seat that used to be occupied by President Obama. Mark Kirk defeated Democrat Alexi Giannoulias. The result of the gubernatorial race in Illinois, a traditionally blue state, has not been determined with Republican Bill Brady nearly even with Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn's vote count.

The pundits and political leaders, as election results were being reported, either were saying the voters wholly rejected big government policies like the economic stimulus and "Obamacare" or this proved the nation is a center-right nation and Congress and the Obama Administration overreached or "over-interpreted" its "mandate" from voters in 2008.
