Dear Today Show and Matt Lauer:

Please I'd like to ask Matt Lauer to stop doing hit jobs on Obama if he can't be fair and tell the whole truth instead of selective half- truths with strategic omissions which is equal to untruthfulness.

Matt, you leave out half the facts about Obama signing this budget. Why do you want to sabotage a new president when he hasn't had time to fulfill his campaign promises. You know as well as anyone that picking a budget fight and shutting the government down In the middle of this escalating financial crisis would be highly irresponsible of President Obama.

The hit piece NBC Today Show aired on March 12th about Obama being essentially a liar because he is supposedly breaking his campaign promises that he would weed out earmarks by going through things line by line really is a hatchet job.

You guys know darned well that this budget was formulated LAST YEAR under the Bush Administration and former Congress. But you leave out of your story the fact that Obama doesn't have the luxury of a budget fight and making Congress start over from scratch at this critical juncture in his new presidency when he has to deal with an overwhelming amount of things on his plate INHERITED FROM THE LAST ADMINISTRATION.

Vetoing the Omnibus Spending Bill right at this moment would result in the whole budget having to be reworked, causing a big budget fight, and government to have to shut down due to lack of funding. And causing government to cease operations and run out of money at a time of dire economic emergency, where it is critical that government keep functioning would be disastrous and very irresponsible. So: Obama can't win. If he keeps his campaign promise right now, as you demand, he makes the economy get worse much faster at a time of perfect economic storm. You disingenuously posit an mpossible situation for Obama.

What you suggest he ought to do but isn't doing just to satisfy you (who in my opinion are a paid GOP operative working to sabotage Obama there in the elite East Coast press Establishment) is irresponsible journalism.

East Coast oligarch-apologists, Matt, like you, already have your income set. You have the luxury of trying a little sabotage; but we out here on Main Street don't have that luxury. And we DON'T need you taking unfair pot shots at the new Adminstration when you have nothing but political 'gotcha' in mind at a time this President needs public support to repair the Republican damage done to the United States for the sake of their own partisan greed. .

I know you and your allies in the GOP still think YOU are running things by using your little fact-twisting strategic omission of facts and false demands for earmark warfare

but to do so right at this time when there are so many other things for Obama to do just doesn't ring patriotic to me. I'm not denying you the right to free speech, but what about responsible speech and moral integrity? Your shoddy journalism won't succeed in undermining confidence in the new President because we out here in the public know the President's programs are our ONLY shot at any kind of relief. So: what you're doing is nothing short of UNFAIR, and damaging to the country, Matt.

In your hatchet job, you also left out the fact that, percentage-wise with respect to their fewer numbers In Congress, the biggest recipients of earmarks in proportion to their representation in Congress were the REPUBLICAN lawakers, who received almost as much money in earmarks as all the Democrats combined did even given the Demcorats' greater numbers.

WHY ARE YOU OUT TO GET OBAMA? As far as I'm concerned, NBC News is a GOP propaganda organ, and so I am putting you on notice too that I intend to publish this as an open letter to you and NBC News on the progressive website "Op-Ed News" so that everyone can see how unfair and really unpatriotic NBC News is not to want the new president to succeed.

I know you think it is amusing to undermine credibility with phony 'issues' at a time when our collective house is on fire, but, really, just how are you helping our country in its time of need? Stop assisting the GOP in being obstructionist slander mongers.

As an arm chair quarter-back, let's see what you would do if you were in Obama's place, hypocrite.

Sincerely,
