…question is what are their options and what kind of change will occur. That’s not been defined. Change is a very nebulous thing. I can give you change for a dollar if I have it…
And went on to describe how real change means examining the systems we allow to run in this country and restructuring them.
Change is a very nebulous thing. That's a phrase fit for a bumper sticker and the idea that the kind of change has not been defined is important. It becomes of utmost importance that liberals and progressives get Edwards and Obama and Clinton to illustrate the kind of change and what exactly change created by them would like.
After seven years of Bush, we cannot afford to let populism exit the campaigns of those we support like populism did in the 2004 election. The exit of populism inevitably led to Kerry/Edwards losing to Bush/Cheney.
Tonight when you all watch the Democratic debate on ABC, let us examine the words that are said by these candidates (Obama, Edwards, and Clinton) in comparison to what has been said in earlier debates and in comparison to each of their records. Let us follow the money and ask ourselves if the money they have pocketed will allow them to create change. Let us note the awkwardness as we see Bill Richardson on stage while Dennis Kucinich sits outside in the cold of New Hampshire pouting about yet another exclusion from a debate (and rightfully so).
If all along Obama, Edwards, and Clinton have meant change as in they will give us change for a dollar, than we truly have been swindled because change for a dollar leaves us with what?
A dollar, which is what we had before the presidential campaign season started.
So, let us not abandon the real insurgent candidates for the presidency and understand it’s not over for them yet. We do not have to get an establishment candidate or vote for a lesser of two evils candidate yet. So, let’s cherish that fact and maximize our freedoms by honoring the opportunity we have been presented to vote for real change.
