Jupiter symbolizes humanity’s archetypal potential and the optimism and abundance that are our birthright - which can so easily turn into hubris and overindulgence when it feeds our ego, and not our Spirit. Pluto calls to us from the invisible realms, chills us with obsession and fear, then offers us the riches of his kingdom –a profound insight into what needs transformation.

On a collective level, their conjunction sparks major revelations as hypocrisies are exposed (the CIA tapes as a final straw?), fundamental assumptions are challenged (America’s government means well), and priorities are reordered (a greener Energy bill for a start). For individuals, this New Moon, and the conjunction, confronts us with our Truth – do we know why we are here? We have a chance now to listen to a higher wisdom and discover what our purpose is – how we can be servants to the community. Take time this weekend and Monday to meditate and ask for guidance from these two powerhouses. Look to see where 17º-29º Sagittarius (and any other planets it effects) falls in your chart. This is the part of your life that is in for major transformation. (If you don’t know where it is, consider having your chart done as a Christmas present to yourself. My contact information is below.)

Remember, this New Moon is fertilized by the radio, microwave and electromagnetic rays streaming from the Galactic Center of the Milky Way Galaxy and empowered by the gifts of Jupiter, Lord of the Heavens and Pluto, Lord of the [Invisible] Underworld. Two days after this New Moon, these two planets will come together at the very last degree of Sagittarius for the first time since 1758, as they did in 1509, 1260 and 1023. On December 18th, the Sun and Mercury both make their annual passage over the Galactic Center, bringing us even more clarity.

On the collective level – and Sagittarius is a sign concerned with the Collective’s organizing laws and principles – all these years saw shifts and advances in religion, politics, communication and commerce. Sagittarius is big on Truth, and is the sign that governs Natural Law. We will see changes in the coming years, fueled by the visions we see now. What part will you play in the change?

Since Pluto went into Sagittarius back in 1995, its energy has reached down into the ‘underbelly’ of our educational systems, our laws, our religions, the media and most powerfully, politics - and exposed us to the Truth of these institutions. What are we going to do about it? Pluto leaves Sagittarius on January 27, 2008 for an extended stay in Capricorn – the sign of our collective culture. Pluto was last in Capricorn in the years leading up to and during the American Revolution.

The Sabian Symbol for 17 Sagittarius: “”A gloriously changing ring of golden light circles the horizon, drawing people from their houses in reverent admiration.” This symbolizes the unfolding glory of the cosmos; blossoming of cosmic consciousness; brotherhood of the spiritually illumined; dedication to promoting the new age; desire for group experience of a spiritual nature.
