The disinformation in my fellow Americans’ minds, fear, poverty, and the ever-increasing importance of gizmos and gadgets in society has eroded the likelihood of challenging this administration. That doesn’t mean people are not out there fighting vigorously to empower the American people and put a halt to the crimes and complicity in the American government.

However, the current squabble over the march on the Democratic National Convention to express the importance of positions or stances the Democratic Party is ignoring and whether it should be a huge massive march or tiny little marches all over shows why we cannot depend on the activists in this country to solve our problems anytime soon. And it is indicative of why we have not ended the Bush regime’s reign of terror over America and the world. Many opportunities have been squandered and no single progressive or liberal is to blame.

So, since there is no prospect of an opposition unifying anytime soon willing to pressure Obama to be the change we’ve been waiting for, demand Bush and Cheney be removed and prosecuted, and call for our nation to go back to being a nation of laws, I find it difficult to think about how I can affect change in a non-capitalist sense. The current situation requires me to shop around and help support monetarily those who are pledging to uphold values and interests this nation should value and be interested in.

I must invest in progressive causes discriminately like one might do if investing in the stock market. Some stocks will go up or down. I happen to think some stocks are worth helping to go up and some are worth letting plummet to the ground.

Those "stocks" I wish to "invest" in and ask you to consider "invest"-ing in instead of the Democrats during this election include but are not limited to:

*The Green Party ---Indeed, even if you vote Democrat, put your money you were going to give to the Democratic Party here so progressive policies can continue to be advanced; the Democratic Party is where progressive politics go to die

*The Nader/Gonzalez Campaign or the McKinney/Clemente Campaign---If you can convince yourself to vote your conscience and your interests, here are the two progressive candidates running. Not only should you vote and help finance their campaigns, but you should want them in the debates. So, if you aren’t going to vote for either Nader or McKinney in November, the least you could do is if polled say you support Nader or McKinney so one of the two can get 10% in a national poll and appear on the stage with Obama and McCain in the Google debate.

*Cindy Sheehan’s Campaign for Congress --- The Pen is already calling for people to donate so more people can be put on the ground to collect signatures to put her on the ballot. People who have been paying attention know why it is important that Nancy Pelosi be removed from office. Her complicity must not be allowed to jeopardize this country any longer.

*Impeachment organizations --- AfterDowningStreet, ImpeachPAC, and even the World Can’t Wait, etc. which are all doing work to call attention to Bush crimes, need support to continue the work they are doing. They need help to keep the masses mobilized in support of Kucinich’s and Wexler’s impeachment efforts in Congress.

*Iraq Veterans Against the War --- Keep the IVAW agenda of immediate withdrawal of all troops and contractors, reparations to Iraqis, and benefits to all veterans alive for our men and women in harm's way overseas.

*OpEdNews --- Let us not forget that which gives us a voice. Help keep this one alive and help it prosper well as a community that allows us to have a conversation about issues and topics our media would like us to not discuss publicly.

While I may be able to excuse voting against one's conscience during this election, I cannot excuse supporting monetarily something that is subverting your values and interests in this country.

I am not going to close my eyes, hold my breath, and go into a cover position hoping to survive the storm and see sunshine after it is all over. I’m going into the eye of the storm this election season hoping to build links between all the little uprisings all over America that are opposing current Bush policies and current Democratic complicity.

Anybody who wishes to join me in my efforts is welcome.
