Thinking about what might happen if a Republican is elected and given the power to add up to two more Supreme Court justices in the next several years that give the GOP and Corporate America total control is more than frightening. Should there be a Republican president in the White House the Supreme Court that now has a 5 to 4 Republican-controlled majority will be increased to a 7 to 2 majority Not only will Citizens United not be reversed, but you can bet that more decisions giving Corporate America even more control over this nation will follow.

Reversing the Citizens United decision by a constitutionally guided Supreme Court would be the most feasible, least complicated way to break the power of Corporate America. For those who believe that it can be done by a Constitutional Amendment, which is another alternative, they need to consider just how difficult an undertaking that would be because of the complexity of the process.

This is how the Constitutional Amendment process is set up to work; you can get the full details by checking out this article which states that "The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures. None of the 27 amendments to the Constitution have been proposed by constitutional convention." So, as we can readily see, both of these processes would be extremely difficult to pursue and that supports the contention that the very best way to solve this festering problem would be to change the composition of the Supreme Court.

And now to the second critically important reason to take down every single Republican candidate. In addition to the further contamination of the Supreme Court, if a Republican president takes office and the GOP gains greater control over Congress we will see the complete destruction of Social Security, Medicare, and all the other important social programs. These critically important social programs are foundations of this country, the safety net for millions of Americans have worked and made monetary contributions to them during their entire lives. These benefits are not a hand out by the government, they have been earned by the people and we cannot allow them to be destroyed. Secondly, we must think not only about ourselves but also about our children and grandchildren who, if the GOP has its way, would be completely shut off from these programs.

Once again, the American people are about to reach a critical crossroads at which there are only two directions they can take. To my way of thinking there is only one direction to take and that is a decision to maintain Democratic control over the White House and, hopefully, the Congress that will give the American people at least an opportunity to reverse the egregious Citizens United decision, to further pave the way for legislation that would bring about comprehensive campaign finance reform, and break the iron grip of Corporate America over this nation and its people; it would also prevent the complete dismantling of Social Security, Medicare and this nation's most important social programs. The second direction, to allow the GOP to assume power is just plain unthinkable.

The American people must come to the realization that Corporate America's power is the main reason why we have seen the corruption of Congress and the Supreme Court and why our presidents, for some time now, have succumbed to its massive control; The proliferation of war, the destruction of our manufacturing sector, the outsourcing of millions of jobs, the decimation of our workforce, our floundering, lifeless economy, the dismantling of the middle class, the continued escalation of the wealth of the 1%; virtually every problem that America is facing can be attributed to the unlimited money and the relentless power and influence of Corporate America in the affairs of this nation.

If the power of Corporate America is not totally eliminated from our governmental and electoral processes by either of the two methods I have discussed above, then if anyone thinks that if an honest, ethical, moral and courageous third party candidate is somehow elected to the office of the presidency that this individual can overcome the power of Corporatism and bring meaningful, significant changes to America, they are in a state of complete denial.

My intent in this discussion has been to illustrate the clear choices that I believe the American people have. There is no perfect solution to this country's myriad of problems but to totally waste a vote on a third party candidate that has zero chance of winning just to prove a point or to administer payback will, effectively, constitute an absolute vote for Romney, Corporatism and a disaster for America.
