How do you think we should solve the Medicare crisis?  Medicare WILL run out of funds at this rate.  I would read updated CMS MSP law to get a feel on the situation.  We have a single payer system that is currently trying to pass fiduciary responsibility back to employers and insurers.

3 - Healthcare may be an inalienable right.  I certainly would not want to be the one who has to approve or deny coverage for someone.  If I eat nothing but fast food, smoke cigarettes, and drink alcohol...should I have to pay more into the healthcare system than Mr. Fit?  If so, how do we determine how much more?

In conclusion, a single payer system would help in my opinion.  The largest demographic of the uninsured are young health adults who also use the least health care.  By creating a single payer system, you're forcing these young adults to subsidize everyone else.  This is similar to Medicare.  This evens the costs to everyone.  It does not address why healthcare costs have inflated at an extreme rate.  A single payer system DOES NOT provide affordable care to everyone, it provides similar care at a similar cost to everyone.
