Imagine floating in the dark warm waters of the womb.   Those inner tides flow in and out, lulling us with peace and tranquility, tumbling us in excitement and playfulness.   Floating in the warm waters of our Cosmic Mother, we listen to the stories emerging from the cosmic oceans.   Images arise, our primeval language.   A new world waits for us to be born -- a new world waits to be born.   These water stories echo in us, preparing us to accept the transition into new life.    As Rumi says, very few of us can sit down in the middle of the primal fires of creation and birth.   And so we rock to the rhythms of life, imagining the world and our life to come in it.

Each of us is being called to new life, and so we are called to a new birth.

This Cancer New Moon is also a solar eclipse, making it a more intense new beginning than a regular new Moon.    Cancer, whose guardian spirit is the Moon herself, is the sign of the primeval oceans, the Great Mother of Life who gives us birth.   This ocean comprises the mysterious realm of the collective unconscious, all the memories of the past life of our species and our planet.   Out of this memory mix we each receive an emotional body that gives us a form to incarnate in.   Cancer is the call of our emotional body, of the psychic life of the soul.

The Cancer Moon nurtures that form of ours, wanting what's best for us.   Wanting us to use our gifts and live our divine blueprint.    It's an interesting fact that if you take the astrology charts of everyone alive today, they comprise all the moments in time since we were born.   It seems that together we hold the complete heavenly pattern of our times, a pattern that is geared toward renewal and life. We just have to become conscious of our piece of the puzzle.   For without us, the picture will never be complete.

It is unusual to have three eclipses in a row, and as we know from number symbolism, three is the number of process, of becoming.   The first two eclipses occurred in the signs of the Mind -- our rational Gemini Mind and our intuitive Sagittarius Mind.   These first two eclipses called us to birth a new Mind, a more cosmic Mind which understands that we are evolving to a new form of human being -- a possible human that will work with others instead of warring with others,   a Mind that balances left and right brains, masculine and feminine consciousness.   Then we add the third mind of spiritual awareness.   This new triadic Mind is so necessary if we are going to come to a new birth this Cancer solar eclipse.

What we had to see through were old thought patterns (Gemini) and beliefs (Sag) which narrowed our perspective on life and kept us stuck in a paradigm that is no longer viable.   If we have wiped clean the doors of perception, then new vision is inevitable, with the Solstice Cancer Sun making a creative aspect to Neptune in Pisces, opening us to visionary probabilities.   If we, as the Cosmic Child, are to be born, what stories are we dreaming?   What stories is the cosmos dreaming for us and in us?   Astrology is one way for the cosmos to remind us of what we once knew.

Since ancient times, the primeval Ocean was the source of Wisdom and Life.   Just as the great Goddess Aphrodite arose out of the ocean's depths, so we too arise out of the waters of the womb, innocent and full of Spirit.   We can be born again this solar eclipse, but this time it is a conscious birth, a chosen birth out of the Cosmic Womb.   The Cosmic Story is asking us to evolve as a species, to take life here on our precious Earth to the next level.   So Happy Birthday, dear sisters and brothers!

Now, it is important to understand the story in the water.   We are in the midst of a cataclysmic change, one in which we are being asked to co-create ourselves and a new world.   It is important to understand some of the new, ecological/cosmic archetypal energies calling to us in this new birth.     The ecologist Brian Swimme and great teacher Jean Houston talk about 11 Powers of the Universe, new understandings of archetypal cosmic patterns.   I have dreamed these new patterns as star constellations shifting in the sky.   Now we are all here, ready for the revelation.

The 11 are: 1. Seamlessness -- we are all part of the energy of life. 2. Centration -- everything needs a center. 3. Allurement -- what we love we attract. 4. Emergence -- we are evolving into a new human potential.   5. Homeostasis -- the balance of life where we conserve what is important.   6. Cataclysm -- we must allow the old the die.    7. Synergy -- things work better working together.   8. Transmutation - the alteration of one species into another.   9. Transformation -- the ability to transform one state of being to another.   10. Interrelatedness -- we are all connected. 11. Radiance -- the ability to shine out our light to the World.

As we create our new story, remember that anything is possible.   It's only the old patriarchal mind patterns that tell us it's not.
