Kevin Carson attributes the recent dramatic upheaval in the Middle East, comprising, in particular, the war in Syria, ISIS' conquering in Iraq and the growth of the Muslim Brotherhood, to Blair and Bush's meddling in Iraq since 2003, arguing that such involvement destabilised the region and enabled ISIS and al Qaeda to flourish in the resulting power vacuum.
