|Another year, another international convention on climate change that manages to raise the term 'gridlock' to new heights of unproductivity. Today in Doha, Qatar, some 200 countries were set to end their 2-week U.N. conference. But they are still there, and still haggling, unable to agree on issues like how to allot more funds to help developing nations cope with climate change, and how to extend the lifetime of the Kyoto Protocol, an existing treaty that is set to expire at the end of the year. This, mind you, was supposed to be 'climate conference lite.' The major talks on how to negotiate a global pact to curb greenhouse gas emissions has been put off until 2015. But is anyone surprised? Not really. The little animation above says it all.|
