Should OpEdNews Publish Articles From Monsanto?

After a series of articles, most of them critical of Monsanto and big agra, have appeared on OEN, Monsanto corporation has responded with comments and, most recently, posting articles on OpEdNEws.com

Our position on articles is they are incomplete as posted and commenters add perspective and different points of view, so we welcomed and continue to welcome Monsanto paid representatives posting comments on articles. But what about articles? Should OEN, a progressive site, actually publish articles by a corporation that many progressives despise?

Writer Linn Cohen-COle says that she is getting more of a response to her efforts to wake up people about the threat of currently pending legislation from right wingers than from liberals and progressives. Cohen-Cole says that support in Congress seems to be strong among liberals.

OEN is dedicated to covering this story. The question is, do we serve our readers and the truth best by enabling Monsanto to publish with OEN, what some readers and editors consider to be corporate propaganda?

Does publishing Monsanto's message, pretty much verbatim copying from their blog, help enable a conversation that might lead to positive change? Or are we just being used by corporatists who have zero interest in dialogue and who are only interested in selling their message and destroying any counter messages and messenger's credibility?

This poll will help OEN set policy. If, for example, Blackwater, now calling itself Xe, or Halliburton or KBR submitted aticles, should they be accepted? We haven't had articles, only complaints from those companies about minor misstatemnts by our writers. They've never asked to post. One could argue that getting them into a conversation is a good thing. Or one can argue that they have billions to promote their message and OEN should not help them sell their propaganda.

So please vote in this poll. Should OpEdNews.com continue to publish articles by Monsanto?

Yes. OpEdNews should publish articles submitted by Monsanto agents
No. OpEdNews should not publish articles submitted by Monsanto agents.
