Should Obama Pull an LBJ and Withdraw His Candidacy for 2012
LBJ withdrew from the presidential election, deciding not to run for a second term. Bobby Kennedy probably would have won that election if he had not been assassinated.
Carter didn't withdraw, and on top of that, Reagan cut his October Surprise deal with the Iranian Mullahs. Maybe if Carter had resigned, Teddy Kennedy could have won.
Some have talked about primarying Obama. A cleaner, less messy approach would be for Obama to simply withdraw his name from the race.
Should Obama, with his polling so low, his support among liberal and progressive democrats deeply flagging, withdraw from the 2012 Presidential race, opening it up for a fresh candidate?
