July is turning out to be a very rough month for fundraising for Opednews. We've only raised half of what we should have for the month. Can you help by making a donation or becoming a paying, premium member of the site?
It's odd. do a google search for "liberal news" and opednews.com comes up first. But I don't think we're a liberal site. I think we're left of liberal and being left of liberal has a price. It has cost us readers. That's ok. And we do come up first when you do a search for "progressive opinion."
A scene at Zuccotti Park's Occupy Wall Street. The young people are not settling for liberal ways of doing things.
Back in the sixties, when he was a "Freedom Rider" John Lewis was persuaded to edit out some words from a speech he gave in Washington-- to tone it down. These are some of those words:
"To those who say be patient and wait, I say that patience is a dirty and a nasty word." "Both the democrats and republicans have betrayed the principles of the declaration of independence."
Opednews is not patient. It speaks from the position that both republicans and democrats are both selling out the middle class. That loses us readers. We think it is the only way we can go. We think that we need anti war and peace and justice and eco-activism more than ever, while we have a Democratic corporatist president.
if you feel the same way, please help.
