This is in response to readers.
I'm getting some feedback that OEN has been too hard on Israel, not showing both sides. We've always been open to publishing both sides. But we don't see much coming in supporting Israel's side. We ARE open to it, though I must confess, I've moved, over the past nine years, more towards supporting the Gazans and Palestinians. That said, I still support Israel's right to exist and to be safe.
Some are suggesting I should make a visit to Israel. I'm pretty sure I'd have places to stay once I got there. Anyone have some spare frequent flyer miles to get me there, or care to make a donation for air fare? I'd like to do a trip to Israel and Gaza and the "occupied territories." My critics who are encouraging me to check out Israel assure me that I can get to Gaza from Israel. I'm not so sure about that. I'm serious about making this trip. But I can't do it on my own financial resources. I'll need air-fare and some expense money.
You can make a donation to Opednews here.
And drop me an email rob at opednews.com and let me know you made the donation to support the trip. Or, get me a ticket-- I'll work with you to coordinate when.
And to support the Arab Spring idea, here's an article By Socialist Worker Online, Why the Arab Spring has changed everything in the Middle East
It includes an article by Gigi Ibrahim
, a dynamic Egyptian activist who's doing some great photography and reporting.
