opednews.com

I've received an email from one of our writers saying he can't/won't contribute articles to OpEdNews.com anymore because we allow articles and links to perspectives opposite his perspective-- some of which he feels are antithetical to a liberal site.

::::::::

He refers to one article, posted by one of our members, from Free Republic, a right wing site, which supported an Israeli position. I didn't remove it, as he suggested. He is a writer a like and respect and I'm sad to see him go, and have tried to persuade him otherwise.

I feel I've been working hard to allow both sides to express their positions.

I think its important to keep discussion open, given that 98% of senators and congressmen are uncritically pro-Israel. Yes, there are "progressive" sites that only publish articles that criticize Israel. I think they are preaching to the choir. Here, there are people who haven't made their minds up yet or pro-Israeli leaning people who don't like what Israel is doing, but don't see alternatives or even alternative ways of looking at things.

As I've mentioned, I've been called a Zionist and an anti-semite. Lou Dobbs recently had a similiar experience and took it as a sign he was doing something right.

What do you think? Please add your comments below.
