Rob,
I certainly hope you're right, but as a former New Yorker, and someone who has spent some time studying Puerto Rico (I wrote my master's thesis at Columbia J-School on attitudes towards independence among Puerto Ricans in New York), I have to say that it was no surprise that she won in Brooklyn and especially in the district she ran it. It is a Latino-majority district and largely Puerto Rican, meaning US citizens who can vote. To me, this was a warning shot to Republicans and the sclerotic Dem establishment that Puerto Ricans are waking up and are angry and are voting, and non-PR Latinos too, because of the border stuff and general anti-Latino zeitgeist. November is going to be interesting.
Ben Jealous's win in the Democratic gubernatorial primary in is another warning to the above parties that blacks and working white are also waking up, by the way.
