Short of not allowing sale or possession of high-capacity clip semi-automatic weapons you mean? Of course there are things that can be done! If the sale of assault rifles were illegal, Cruz would not have been able to obtain one. Duh.

Look, the police say he did all his shooting in a span of 6 minutes, during which he fired nearly 150 bullets. There's a reason he was able to kill so many people.

Curiously, Florida allows 18-year-olds to buy a rifle at 18, but a pistol only at age 21. They clearly think rifle's are safer than pistols, but then they include assault rifles under the classification "rifle." Maybe they should limit young people to single-shot weapons?

What you're saying is akin to saying nothing can be done about the pollution of the earth by glyphophate or that nothing can be done about illegal wars like the US invasion of Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria.
