Hillary Takes Three Out of Four, McCain Comes to End of Primary Trail

By Rob Kall

all the winners and Huckabee.

::::::::

Meeting the predictions given two weeks ago, Hillary Clinton has made her supporters and the media happy, offering at least the appearance of a new life for the campaign.

Obama held enough votes to hold on to his delegate lead, losing, at the max, a few delegates off his lead. Final delegate counts are not yet in.

Obama said, “We have nearly the same delegate lead that we had this morning. “

Hillary said, "No candidate has won the Whitehouse without winning the Ohio primary."

John McCain and his election extension supplement, Mike Huckabee ran out of steam as McCain’s delegate count finally climaxed, reaching the magic number that gave him the win for the primary contest. Huckabee gave what could have been the longest speech acknowledging defeat in recent history.

Now, there are seven weeks until the next primary in PA. Since there was no conclusive big win for Obama, since Hillary, with three wins, two of them in major, key states, now has some renewed wind in her sails, the media has been given the gift of low cost high interest news.

Pennsylvania may not change things much either. A state similar to Ohio, with many blue collar voters and the second oldest population after Florida, PA could easily, especially with the help of Governor Ed Rendell and Philly Mayor Michael Nutter, be another win for Hillary.

Hillary is now saying that she’s won the swing states that count—Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Arizona. That may hold sway with the superdelegates who could very well decide who wins in the end.

The clear winners in Tuesday's primaries are first, the media, next Hillary Clinton and John McCain, third, Democratic party, because McCain and Huckabee will no longer get media coverage for a faux campaign competition, and finally, the people of Pennsylvania, who never imagined that their April primary would ever have a chance to influence the primary outcome. People in Bucks County, PA, THE county a candidate must win to take the state, are expecting to see a lot of the candidates in the weeks to come and even more of the media. One local Obama supporter, at a primary results get-together last night, commented, "I'm glad we re-painted the den. We'll need it for when Chris Matthews comes to visit."
