Did Bush Admin Order Tillman Murdered to Silence Him?

By Rob Kall

Tillman, a courageous, patriotic pro football hero was coming out against the war. If he spoke out to the media, attacking the war and the Bush administration it would have been devastating to US support for the Iraq war and the 2004 campaigns of George W. Bush and his Republican supporters. If Tillman returned home from his tour of duty, opposing the war and supporting Kerry, his voice could have changed the 2004 Elections.

New releases of information suggest that this may have been the case. Tillman, a courageous, patriotic pro football hero was coming out against the war. If he spoke out to the media, attacking the war and the Bush administration it would have been devastating to US support for the Iraq war and the 2004 campaigns of George W. Bush and his Republican supporters. Tillman, if he'd returned home from his tour of duty, only to get on the speaking stump, opposing the war and supporting John Kerry and his Democratic fellow candidates, could have made a huge difference.

Now, AP, in an article with a strangely weak, non-descript headline article, reports that Tillman may have been intentionally killed. The military has finally released a 2300+ page report which provides what appears, to this writer, to be clear evidence that this coverup went beyond just hiding the fact that Tillman was not killed by enemy fire, but fare worse, horrifically, that he was very likely intentionally killed by US fire and that this crime was then covered up, very likely with the decision made to cover up at the highest levels.

Mostly Ignored by the MSM

Not surprisingly, this huge story is not being given the attention it deserves by the lamestream media. CNN's top story today is drunk astronauts, and of course, the latest drug abusing celebrity. The Wall Street Journal didn't carry the story at all (just imagine what the WSJ will be like once Murdoch gets his hands on it.) Keith Olbermann did jump on it, discussing it with Gen. Wesley Clark.

The New York Times doesn't even cover the AP story, merely noting, in a page 20 brief article, that there weill be demotions. They do have an editorial supporting Henry Waxman's investigation into the role of the Whitehouse in the coverup of Tillman's real cause of death. But they totally ignore the real story-- that there was suspicion of murder and that the military lawyers gloated about covering it up.

The Washington Post doesn't list any reference to Tillman on their websites list of "A" section articles. But at least they list the AP article on their site.

Paul Joseph Watson, commenting on an Associated Press article, AP: New Details on Tillman's Death writes in his article New Evidence Clearly Indicates Pat Tillman Was Executed

"The report also states that "No evidence at all of enemy fire was found at the scene - no one was hit by enemy fire, nor was any government equipment struck."

The article also reveals that "Army attorneys sent each other congratulatory e-mails for keeping criminal investigators at bay as the Army conducted an internal friendly-fire investigation that resulted in administrative, or non-criminal, punishments."

So there was no evidence whatsoever of friendly fire, but the ballistics data clearly indicated that the three head shots had been fired from just 10 yards away and then the Army tried to concoct a hoax friendly fire story and sent gloating back-slapping e mails congratulating each other on their success while preventing the doctors from exploring the possibility of murder. How can any sane and rational individual weigh this evidence and not come to the conclusion that Tillman was deliberately gunned down in cold blood?

The evidence points directly to it and the motivation is clear - Tillman abandoned a lucrative career in pro-football immediately after 9/11 because he felt a rampaging patriotic urge to defend his country, and became a poster child for the war on terror as a result. But when he discovered that the invasion of Iraq was based on a mountain of lies and deceit and had nothing to do with defending America, he became infuriated and was ready to return home to become an anti-war hero.

As far back as March 2003, immediately after the invasion, Tillman famously told his comrade Spc. Russell Baer, "You know, this war is so fucking illegal," and urged his entire platoon to vote against Bush in the 2004 election. Far from the gung-ho gruff stereotype attributed to him, Tillman was actually a fiercely intellectual man with the courage of his convictions firmly in place.

Tillman had even begun to arrange meetings with anti-war icons like Noam Chomsky upon his return to America before his death cut short any aspirations of becoming a focal point for anti-war sentiment.

THere's more-- more in the AP report that makes this look like a coverup of intentional murder. The AP article states,
The doctors — whose names were blacked out — said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away.
and, as if that wasn't enough,
Among other information contained in the documents:

• In his last words moments before he was killed, Tillman snapped at a panicky comrade under fire to shut up and stop "sniveling."

• The three-star general who kept the truth about Tillman's death from his family and the public told investigators some 70 times that he had a bad memory and couldn't recall details of his actions.

General Wesley Clark told Keith Olbermann last night that this coverup was not something that was initiated by a lower level general, that "the orders came from the very top."

Watson, in his prisonplanet article, comments,
The notion that the U.S. government gave orders for Army top brass to execute Pat Tillman in cold blood is the most damaging indictment of the Iraq war since it began, trumping the lies about weapons of mass destruction tenfold, but if the establishment media continue to soft-peddle and steam-valve one of the biggest stories of the century its impact will be completely diluted.

This must be what the Bush Administration was trying so desperately to hide behind their all purpose “Executive Privilege” shield. Read more.

I wonder how long it will take the John Derbyshires and Michelle Malkins of the Rabid Right to insist that Tillman was to blame for his own murder. Start the countdown. Let’s synchronize our watches…

Because remember, kids, nobody supports the troops like the Republicans. Until they do something that’s bad for PR like get hurt or killed or dare to actually tell the truth about the GOP’s Great War on Civilians. Then it’s off to the trash heap of history with them.

Of all the disgraceful, sickening things our country has done in the name of “spreading liberty” in the Great War on Terrah, this one is a real prize-winner. I only hope that his family can find some kind of peace in the days ahead. In the wake of such a devastating loss followed by a breathtaking series of insults and brush-offs from the US government and the leadership of the armed forces, if I were in their shoes, I think I would simply have lost my mind by now.

The probe is "a sham," the New York DailyNews reports Mary Tillman, Pat Tillman's mother said. The Daily News article reported,
Pat Tillman's family yesterday ripped the Army's latest investigation of the pro football star's friendly-fire death in Afghanistan as a "sham" meant to protect higherups.

"It's so humiliating and disrespectful," said Mary Tillman, mother of the Arizona Cardinals defensive back who joined the Army and became a Ranger after 9/11.

"It's one more example of the Army investigating itself," she said. "It was all done to glorify this war. It's a sham. Pat deserves the truth."

Army Secretary Pete Geren is expected to recommend next week against criminal action but urge that four generals and three other officers be reprimanded for "critical errors" that misled the family and the nation into thinking Tillman was killed in combat in April 2004.

The officers also allowed the approval of Tillman's Silver Star award, which said he died in a charge against the enemy when he was actually killed by machine-gun fire from his own platoon.
and also reported,
Geren is also expected to recommend that retired Lt. Gen. Philip Kensinger, former head of Army special operations, be demoted one rank to major general. The action would cut Kensinger's monthly pension from about $8,800 to $7,900.

Five weeks after Tillman's death, when Kensinger already knew about the friendly-fire reports, he joined the family at a nationally televised memorial service but did not dispute the Silver Star citation.

Mary Tillman said Kensinger "was just the fall guy" for others in the chain of command. She suggested that then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld also knew that her son had fallen to friendly fire but kept the facts hidden so his death could be used as propaganda for the war.
