Actors, writers and other celebrities should boycott the Ellison media Empire

By Rob Kall

Conservatives have almost no A-list talent to fill these rosters -- their cultural bench is thin. If progressive actors, writers, directors, and showrunners publicly commit to not working with Paramount Skydance or Warner Bros. under Ellison control, it would gut the pipeline of prestige content these companies depend on.

::::::::

This is a call for celebrities, actors, directors , producers, screenwriters and anyone who would appear on movies or TV or play a role in creating them to announce that they are boycotting the Ellison family's Paramount Blue Sky media Empire.

Larry Ellison, one of the five richest men in the world and founder of Oracle Corporation, has been bankrolling his son David Ellison in one of the most sweeping media consolidations in history. The company they control is called Paramount Skydance (NASDAQ: PSKY), which David founded and runs as Chairman and CEO.

David founded the film and television production company Skydance Media in 2006, and later merged it with Paramount Global in August 2025, forming Paramount Skydance. (Wikipedia) Larry's family trust remains the largest owner of the new company's shares while David retains operational control. (Wikipedia)

Then, just months later, David went further. Warner Bros. Discovery formally signed an agreement to be acquired by Paramount Skydance in February 2026, in one of the most consequential media mergers in recent history. (NBC News) The deal includes the Warner Bros. film studio, the HBO Max streaming platform, and a portfolio of cable channels, including CNN. (NBC News)

Together, the Ellison media empire now includes or will soon include:

From Paramount Skydance:

Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television, CBS (America's most-watched broadcast network), CBS News, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Showtime, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Skydance's Animation, Film, Television, Interactive/Games, and Sports divisions. (Paramount)

From Warner Bros. Discovery (pending closing):

HBO, HBO Max, CNN, Warner Bros. film studio, DC Studios, TBS, TNT, Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, and franchises including Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and the DC Universe.

Also notably: David acquired Bari Weiss's digital media outlet The Free Press after she was installed as editor-in-chief of CBS News. (Wikipedia)

They've already shown us what they intend to do with this power. Despite commitments made to the FCC during the merger process to not politicize news coverage, David Ellison appointed Weiss as editor-in-chief of CBS News -- despite her having no background in broadcast journalism -- and the decision to end editing of interviews on Face the Nation were widely seen as accommodations to Trump's criticisms of the network. (Wikipedia) Paramount also chose not to renew The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after Colbert referred to a $16 million settlement of Trump's CBS lawsuit as a "big fat bribe." (Wikipedia)

If the WBD acquisition is approved, Ellison stands to control two of the key pillars of traditional news media: CNN and CBS News, home of 60 Minutes. (NBC News)

The Ellisons are building a multicorporate network of data mining, surveillance, news, and entertainment. (The Ringer) David and Larry are both allies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and both support the Trump White House. (The Ringer) David attended Trump's State of the Union address as the personal guest of MAGA Senator Lindsey Graham. (The Daily Beast)

This is precisely why a celebrity boycott matters so much. Statements now -- before more deals close -- could poison future negotiations and send the stock tumbling. The Ellisons paid over $110 billion for WBD alone. A talent boycott that tanks the value of these properties could force them to sell at a massive loss. That would be a fitting consequence for using billionaire money to buy and corrupt the public's information supply.
