Last minute polling hilights and hopefuls.
By Rob Kall
Some hopeful last minute stats, some hopes and prayers and the stats that go with them
::::::::
Last minute polling hilights and hopefuls. I'm using www.pollster.com-- a very cool site with more polling info than I've seen anywhere. Click on the links to see the charts of the polls and poll details. AZ 05 House-- Mitchell vs. Hayworth Hayworth is a former right wing talk show hack, so he's an even more obnoxious bloviator and even further right wing than most. This race seems to have gradually turned around so his opponent has a chance to send him back to begging for a job at Clear Channel. (Fat chance. I'm sure he'll become a lobbyist.) Pombo vs. McNerney Pombo is another right wing cretin, perhaps THE worst in the congress when it comes to the environment. Two of the last three polls put him behind and the other was 41-40. Fingers crossed. The earth is praying with us on this one. FL24 Feeney Curtis One poll puts this one very close. Clint Curtis is a voting integrity whistle-blower hero who would be a great, courageous congressman. PA 07 Weldon Sestak For the past month, Sestak has been polling better than Weldon, who became subject of an FBI investigation. Word has it that Weldon pissed Bush off, critizing him. The "Don" doesn't like his consiblieris to mess with him. They get horses' heads in their beds. Sestak is going to take this one, even though pollster.com calls it a toss-up. Fitzpatrick vs. Murphy This is MY district. I've been getting to know Patrick Murphy, working, helping him for about 18 months. He's going to be a smart, effective congressman. Foru fo the last six polls show him ahead. The ones that don't are in-state polls sponsored by universities. The poll that puts Fitzpatrick most ahead is one that Terry Madonna, a local self-inflated bloviator is associated with. He was so off on the primaries, and did such a bad job, IMHO, that I discount his polling. Leave it out and Patrick is kicking butt. He will dump Fitzpatrick, who pretends he's an independent, even though he's voted with Bush when it counted, which is the only voting worth looking at. Longshot IL14 Hastert Laesch This is a longshot, but the poll is old and Hastert has looked pretty creepy since the Foley outing. I posted John Laesch's first intro on Dailykos, when he was one of several in the primaries, last year. A Laesch victory would mean a total tromping of the Republican leadership. And John is a down to earth, honest, good hearted man who will make a superb replacement for ugly Denny. AZ Senate Race Kyl vs Pederson This race has been steadily led by John Kyl, with up to 16 leads. But the last poll put it within the margin of error and I'd love to see Kyl, one of the really far right repugs, dumped. Here's hoping the wave knocks him over. TN Senate race Corker vs Ford The polls don't look as good on this one. But it's not impossible. A win here would clinch the senate, assuming other poll indicators come to pass.
