An Rx for the Human Condition and for Philanthropists

By Gary Brumback

This article briefly reviews the current human condition caused by the US corpocracy; recommends a prescription for philanthropists to follow toward improving dramatically the human condition in America; and proposes that philanthropists Bill Gates and/or Warren Buffett launch initiatives that would immeasurably improve the human condition in America, with overflows world-wide and would prevent Doomsday later this century.

::::::::

I am deferring a bit in telling you the intent of this article to explain its title, which could be a bit perplexing. Philanthropists give away some of their wealth, popularly called guilt giving, purportedly to improve in one way or another the human condition. The money donated is mostly wasted in my opinion because the initiatives funded are aimed at alleviating symptoms, not at the causes of a widespread, appalling huma condition.

I will cite here a case in point, that of the super-rich philanthropist, Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft. One of the initiatives he is funding is increasing the widespread vaccination of malaria, a deadly malady. [1] But the mosquito is only the proximal cause, not the original cause of the disease. Poverty is. [2] And poverty is caused by a vastly unequal distribution of means to ends in any society, including that of America. Poor people, despite popular beliefs fostered by the super wealthy, are not the cause of their poverty. Research confirms what common sense should tell us, namely, that the super wealthy are the cause. [3]

Mr. Gates is an exception to the guilt giver. The company he co-founded has enhanced the human condition of people who use Microsoft products. Indeed, without it, commerce would crash, and social interactions would take a nosedive. His reputation, along with my being influenced by Mr. Ralph Nader's book, "Only the Super Rich Can Save Us," prompted me to send to him and another socially responsible philanthropist, Mr. Warren Buffett, my book on rescuing America from its corpocracy and its power elite. [4] I never got a response and assumed they were at least symbolically tethered to America's corpocracy and its power elite, the primary source of the deplorable human condition, including countless deaths worldwide.

Article's Intent

The intent of this article is three-fold, first, to briefly review the current human condition caused by the US corpocracy; second, to recommend a prescription for philanthropists to follow toward improving dramatically the human condition in America; and third, to propose that Gates and/or Buffett launch initiatives that would immeasurably improve the human condition in America, with overflows world-wide and would prevent Doomsday that is predicted by a slew of experts to happen at the end of this century, just three or four generations away. [5]

The Current Human Condition Due to the US Corpocracy

Years ago, I compiled nearly 170 reported incidents of harmful actions and the harm done, sometimes irreversible, at the hands of people working in 13 of America's industries plus the U.S. government. [6] I also compiled and summarized examples of the harm caused as shown in the following compilation:

"Sadtistics"

Examples of Harm Caused the American People

By

13 Industries and the US Government

(In No Particular Order)

The deaths of the three assassinated K's and the victims of 9/11.

U.S. has highest infant mortality of comparable OECD countries.

6.1 million children in poor families don't get nutritious food regularly.

Consumer fraud costs Americans multiple billions of dollars annually.

Over 10.1 million jobless.

37.2 million live in poverty.

Over one-half million are homeless.

7.8% job holders work more than one job to make ends meet.

Over 5 thousand workers per year die from workplace accidents.

Over 2.7 million workers per year suffer injuries and illnesses from the workplace.

About 11 million children in poor families don't get nutritious food regularly.

27.5 million Americans do not have health insurance.

Over 214,000 home foreclosures.

Over 13,000 gun-related deaths in last reported year.

Over 900 deaths from police officer shootings in the last reported year.

Experiments with healthy people, sickening them with chemicals, toxins, and infectious diseases.

Medical errors caused 214,00 deaths in the last reported year.

Most Americans wrongfully committed for crimes are African Americans.

More than 100,000 Americans die yearly from air pollution.

63 million Americans are exposed to unsafe drinking water, and about 7.2 million Americans get sick every year from diseases spread through contaminated water.

An unknown number of Americans become ill or die every year from eating GMO-laced food and food from hormone fed and pesticide treated grazing fields.

Small businesses closed because of big box stores.

Manufacturers' defective and dangerous vehicles on the road and in the air lead to thousands of poorly documented injuries and fatalities.

In a 3-year period there were 70 electrocutions from faulty products.

Prescription drug prices are among the highest in the world.

Profiteering from deliberately raising food prices hurts those living paycheck to paycheck.

Consumer price gouging as in prescription price hikes higher than anywhere else in the world.

Increasing rate of serious illnesses linked to the use of an artificial sweetener FDA refuses to ban.

Annual costs to taxpayers of illegal immigration are over 115 billion dollars.

750 thousand Americans killed during the Civil War.

10,000 Americans deliberately killed during the prohibition era.

Hundreds of WWII Tuskegee airmen deliberately left to die from an experiment on syphilis.

__________________________________________________________________

Bear in mind that this tabulation does not include the countless millions of non-Americans killed and maimed and property destroyed by US covert and overt military mercenary operations to overthrow foreign regimes and install puppet dictators allowing U.S plundering of valuable resources for American industries. To cite one eye-opening example, over 6 million Southeast Asians were killed by the bloodthirsty U.S military during the Vietnam War, a war entirely of the making by the U.S war and weapons industry with the US government in tow. [7]

The Ideal Human Condition World-Wide

A prescription to achieve the ideal human condition world-wide obviously requires criteria for knowing if the ideal human condition has been achieved.

Some of the criteria are listed in Article 25 of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights contains

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

(2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

Note that the declaration is silent on the universal right to access to a healthy environment. That omission was belatedly rectified by a new resolution passed by the UN in late 2021. [8]

The UN is basically hamstrung on three ongoing threats to the human condition, that of war, population explosion and species extinction. For war crimes, the UN defers to the International Criminal Court, a feckless organization to which the U.S. deliberately has not joined. As for population explosion, the U.N. abrogates its universal responsibility and defers to the "Holy See" delegation from the Vatican and looks away from the glaring evidence that Mother Earth is overloaded with human beings to the near breaking point. [9] As for the third threat, species extinction is accelerating at an alarming rate scientists claim. [10] This situation is no trifling matter, despite naysayers claiming extinction is a natural part of evolution. Species throughout our ecosystem depend on one another. Flesh eating animals depend on plant eating animals, and plant life depends on tiny organisms in the soil. We depend on all the foregoing to survive.

We must recognize that the UN is not an activist organization. It bills itself as "One place where the world's nations can gather together, discuss common problems and find shared solutions." The UN is thus not designed to staff any kind of remedial initiatives.

The Ideal Human Condition for Americans

I have written that the power elite of America's corpocracy seems to be taking America and the rest of the world to Hell in a handbasket. [11 ] To try and prevent that from happening, the corpocracy needs to end. If it does, rebuilding a new form of government for Americans becomes a necessity. Anarchy cannot be allowed to happen. Moreover, the end of the US corpocracy would dramatically improve the human condition worldwide.

More specific criteria for an ideal human condition in America needs to be specified for determining whether the ideal has been reached:

>The corpocracy is gone. People are governed by public, not corporate servants.

>The US Constitution is rewritten to serve the common good.

>The power elite have been neutralized.

>America is at peace with itself and the world.

>Laws with teeth for the benefit of the common good.

>All Americans enjoy the conditions specified in the UN's Article 25.

>All Americans can reach their fullest potential as human beings [12].

>Bad capitalism is replaced by good capitalism. [13 ]

An Rx for Philanthropists

What follows next is a brief prescription for x initiatives that would need to be undertaken to dismantle America's corpocracy peacefully and legally and replace it with a true democracy. I will e-mail this Rx along with the entire article to Messrs. Gates and Buffett imploring them to undertake the initiatives.

1. Send a copy of my book detailing a model for a totally reorganized, socially responsible, and high performing corporations to the CEOs and Board of Directors' Chairs for all corporations. [14]

2. Buy out or build a model corporation in each of the 13 most harmful industries. For instance: 2a. Buy out or build a factory and hire at irresistible salaries factory workers for a war contractor and make "ploughshares" such as much need public works projects; 2b. Buy out or establish a major newspaper, television and film maker that gives the American people the unvarnished truths and avoids entertainment that enshrines violence and death by any means; 2c. Buy out or establish a major financial firm that does not bilk the investor or borrower, does not fund military operations and does not launder drug money.

3.Buy out or build an energy producer that produces environmentally clean energy.

4. Buy out or establish a charter school that teaches creative thinking and true and complete history.

5. Offer the leaders of the world's major religious organizations offerings they can't refuse to stop starting, endorsing, or tolerating military and other non-peaceful forceful operations.

6. Create and promote a new political party that seeks government reforms such as those I detailed in one of my early books, and that promises to establish a true democracy serving the public' interests, not those of corporations and other special interest groups detrimental to the common good. [15]

7. Convene a Constitutional Convention to abolish the version framed by and for oligarchs, such as the 2nd Amendment deliberately aimed at mustering arms to repel any widespread revolts by commoners suffering from tyrannical rule. Restructure and simplify the three branches of government that essentially prevent any unified action for the common good.

In Closing

I predict that if my Rx for the common good and philanthropists are totally adopted, the human condition will improve dramatically, and one or more forms of Doomsday will be avoided.

Will it come to pass? Will eventual Doomsday be voided? I seriously doubt it. I fully expect Messrs. Gates and Buffett to ignore my plea. They always have before.

Readers, what do you expect? And a better question still; readers, what will you do?

Please consider sending Messrs. Gates and Buffett a message! Here are their e-mail addresses I use for trying to contact them: team|AT|gatesnotes.comEmail address; and berkshire|AT|berkshirehathaway.comEmail address. Several hundred messages let's say from OEN readers might prompt a promising response.
