What is That unto which the Cosmos expands?
By Fakeer Ishavardas
It is the present-day notion of a few entertaining theoretical physicists that a big bang caused the universe, some 13 billion years ago. And that the expanding universe, collapses, causing dissolution. Doomsday scenario! So, does the cosmos end? Well, innumerable little universes are born and die every moment, yet the universe as a cosmic whole goes on. As would you, after an un-felt pinch on the bottom by a common housefly!

Ah yes! Cosmos
what's it, but
churning of That!
owing to which
changing! yet no
all's this 'n that!
"Our science - Greek science - is based on objectification... But I do believe that this is precisely the point where our present way of thinking does need to be amended, perhaps by a bit of blood transfusion from Eastern thought." ~Erwin Schrödinger[Nobel prize in Physics]
From a metaphysical point of view, the cosmic expansion and the dissolution of it is but a happening un-happening! And therefore, this creation-expansion-dissol
Confusing, is not it? So, let us simplify this cosmic tinkering, and this confounding thing called cosmic existence. And ask ourselves, "What is the Cosmos?"
The Oxford University dictionary description of it as "the universe seen as well-ordered whole". The Cambridge University dictionary describes the cosmos as "the universe considered as a system with an order and pattern."
Assuming it is so, one may ask the following about the cosmos:
In short, the question arises as to what the hell is this universe that some call the cosmos or this world, taken as a whole.
First of all, the idea of most self-styled, all-knowing pundits, especially of some theoretical physicists, that the cosmos is approximately 13.8 billion years old, and is born of a Big Bang, is at best a conjecture.
The Nobel prize-winning physicist Hannes Alfven puts the vexed controversy at rest, by outing it on public record:
"I was there when Abbe Georges Lemaître first proposed this [Big Bang] theory... There is no rational reason to doubt that the universe has existed indefinitely, for an infinite time... It is only myth that attempts to say how the universe came to be, either four thousand or twenty billion years ago."
In fact, the Nobel physicist further expressed explicitly his belief that the Big Bang is a myth devised to explain creation. He said he heard Lemaître (who was, at the time both a member of the Catholic hierarchy and an accomplished scientist) say in private that this (big bang) theory was a way to reconcile science with St. Thomas Aquinas' theological dictum of creatio ex nihilo - creation out of nothing.
Thus, the the cosmic view of a Hawking or a Dawkins is just a fancy idea.
Interestingly, one of the earliest Sanskrit word for God is 'Brhma'. Here, 'brh' is expand, 'ma' is the masculine firmament or the first principle.
Meaning thereby that Brahma or God is the fundamental foundation of the cosmic enfolding.
Simplifying it yet more, sans semantics, by Brhma is meant the Transcendental Absolute that is the First Principle of an ever-expanding cosmos reality .
Metaphysically, it means the unchanging reality is that the cosmos is an ever-expanding phenomena; which, contracting expands, and expanding contracts - infinitely, for all times.
Yet, being unchanging, the ultimate reality is that even though seemingly expanding and contracting - as if, in the ever-going process of creation and dissolution - the First Principle is never changing, is constant, ever unchanging!
That is to say, that despite the seeming constant phenomenon of changing - of seemingly being created and destroyed - the Universal Constant, in essence, always stays unchanging.
Infinite, and Eternal. As the Unchanging Truth of the Absolute.
Forever unto itself as the Universal Self.
As the Fundamental Principle of Allness, Oneness, an Unchanging Whole of No-thing-ness. A "no thing", yet not nothing! But all things! Everything.
This is the God of self-realized freemystics, at all times, everywhere.
"What we observe as material bodies and forces are nothing but shapes and variations in the structure of space. Particles are just schaumkommen (appearances)." ~ Niels Bohr [Nobel prize in Physics]
Therefore, after all is said and done, in quintessence, all stays as is. Forever an Ever-ness. At the root-level, structurally as the quantum reality, the fundamental reality stays unchanged. Ever the Same.
"[Scientific knowledge is] lots of fun. You get lots of correlations, but you don't get the truth." ~ Barbara McClintock [Nobel prize in physiology/medicine]
It is a hypothesis of the present-day popular cosmologists and entertaining theoretical physicists, that the "collapsed" or "contracted" universe cannot again "expand". Meaning thereby that this cosmic existence, at some point, ends. Yet, many a Nobel laureate as Heisenberg, Max Planck, Erwin Schrodinger, Niels Bohr, and Hennes Alfven etc. may well disagree - with the Hawking and the Dawkins of this "no god" world of today.
"The new form of insight can perhaps best be called Undivided Wholeness in Flowing Movement." ~ David Bohm [Theoretical Physicist]
A collapsing universe, or an expanding universe causing dissolution, is just a theory. As good or bad as the next. Yet, is not the ultimate reality. As some better scientific minds imply. And as self-realized spiritual sages exemplify.
Thus, the little expanding universes expand, and collapse. As too vice-versa takes place. Yet taking the cosmos as an indivisible whole, at the basic quintessential quantum level, nothing happens. All this now-happening cosmic phenomenon, as witnessed by us or occurring unnoticed in the ether somewhere, is as transitory and a vanishing fairy as is a whirlwind unto the wind - come, gone a song, without a sting.
No god sleeps, or awakens!
All is an unchanging whole. "Get" thus the Whole.
