Thoughts on How to Execute a Corporation

By Rob Kall

Go to many of the occupied territories and there are signs that read, "I'll accept corporate personhood when Texas executes a corporation." In a recent thread, a few commenters were speculating on what an execution of a corporation would look like. That got my imagination spinning.

Opposition to corporations having the same rights as people, part of the reason for Citizens United and why corporations can get their grubby paws into elections, is very high among the people of the Occupy Wallstreet movement.

But we're not just talking about OWS people opposing corporate personhood. Missoula Montana voters put the question on the ballot and 75% voted against the idea of corporate personhood and called for an amendment against it.

In a recent thread, a few commenters were speculating on what an execution of a corporation would look like.

That got my imagination spinning.

Here's where it went, off the top of my head, for starters:

How to Execute a Corporation

The basic idea is, if a corporation has rights of "personhood," then it should be eligible, if it commits heinous crimes, to be sentenced to be executed. So, here are thoughts on how to execute a corporation, since hanging, firing line or lethal injection won't work.

1-make all stock shares worth zero. That would get shareholders to make execs more accountable.

2- sully and destroy the brand. Ban it for all media.

3-ban top management from working ANYWHERE for two years.

4-Take back all bonuses and executive pay above the average of non-top-managers pay.

5-require the company to liquidate assets and pay for advertising reaching an audience comparable to the advertising the company did before, only run ads that report the crimes and death penalty of the corporation in the a no-holds-back way that makes it clear how guilty and evil the company was.

Well, those are a few quick thoughts. How about you. How do you envision the execution of a corporation-- say, a Texas execution?
