The High Cost of Medically Unexplained Symptoms: click here
IN this article, I address medically unexplained symptoms and their high costs on the health care system. I suggest that we are really good at diagnosing serious and life-threatening illnesses, but not so good with garden-variety problems. I review the mind-body problem and suggest that mind and body and life are intertwined and that when life sucks and we are miserable our bodies feel symptoms. I review the biology for how this happens and suggest what we can do differently to reduce costs for medically unexplained symptoms.
