Perceptions of Republican Fearmongers and the Simple Truth

The simple truths of Bush's failures, as revealed in that nagging intelligence estimate, are already known and understood by the Muslim world, as the limits of his ability to kill 'terrorists' by unleashing waves of shock and awe are revealed in the greater numbers who are influenced by the killings into joining in active, violent resistance. Bush and his republicans are not learning a thing because it's not their lives and livelihoods they're putting on the line. Our soldiers are at the point of their political campaign, and they keep extending their role in Iraq, despite the report, despite the 2700-plus American soldier's lives lost there.

"Withdrawing before the enemy is defeated would embolden the terrorists," Bush argued. "It would help them find new recruits to carry out even more destructive attacks on our Nation." The irony of that statement is more than evident to anyone who can read the estimate.

He has all of the elements of the simple truth in front of him, but he's intent on trying to cover them up with lies from his slim thread. We, as a nation, should challenge our leaders to commit themselves to only employ our troops in necessary defense of our country, upholding the rule of law, and keeping us secure by adhering closely to the principles of our democracy as they operate abroad.

In every instance since 9-11, Bush and his republicans have attacked those very principles as mere affronts to their own imperial reign which they insist must be maintained to keep us from harm. Their own intelligence estimate shows that their remedy, the military muckraking that they have yoked us to, is the most present and pernicious danger our country faces.

We must encourage voters to face that danger without fear in November, and remove these arrogant pretenders from their majority control which they have used to initiate and perpetuate their epic failures.
